We ate here whilst on business in the area. It was a Tuesday evening but very busy I would highly recommend making a reservation for this restaurant. Service was attentive and superb throughout evening. For starters I had none marrow which was great in garlic...bread. Seafood scholops were superb and dersets of creme brulee very good. Superb wine selection and at a reasonable cost. Others had wagu beef oysters all very good . If in Rennes must eat restaurant.More

This was my 3rd visit overall, and my first since 2015. I wasn't disappointed. The place was full when I arrived without a reservation, but the host was kind enough to squeeze me in at a table where I would have about 1 hour. The...food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the wine selection was good.More

The restaurant was very well presented and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the price was reasonable. As an added bonus, the restaurant was very well located, near both Rennes train station and Republique metro station.

Our first meal of seafood (shared oysters, wild shrimp with linguine and grilled striped bass) was so good we went back the next night as well (roasted bone marrow, grilled calves liver, grilled steak and frites). Nice ambiance. Good service.

After a wonderful meal of Bretagne oysters, wild shrimp with linguine (my wife) and grilled stripped bass (me), I was reluctant to return and break the spell. No worry, my wife had the roasted bone marrow, I had the fresh poached egg, she had the...calves' liver and I had the butcher's choice of beef. Wonderful.More

A fisherman might dream of finding the ideal fishing spot. While we have been to many Michelin 1, 2 and a few 3 star restaurants, our ideal find is a bistro/brasserie/bouchon where the staff enjoys each other and their customers, where the cooking is first...rate and has been pleasing their regulars for generations, and where we would be delighted to return to again and again. Le Galopin is that kind of place. The silverware sparkles, the bright red banquettes are festive and the atmosphere reflects lots of people having a very good time. Nearly 5 weeks into this trip, this is one of just a few restaurants we will remember with both precision and great pleasure. The wait staff is kind, truly professional and graceful in their rounds. Our Cancale oyster starter was the best of this trip. The wild shrimp and pasta main was delicious. The blackboard notice of a Brillat Savarin with truffles and an aged, 30 month Comte' couldn't be ignored, and the cheese course was optimal. Desserts too were delicious. A crisp Chablis added to our enjoyment. All of the above at a fair price. We will be remembering Le Galopin for a long time and know we will be welcomed when we return.More

Nice restaurant, good service, good wine, but food disappointing. One first course was very nice but the other was garnished with paprika despite being advised of my allergy. The mains were awful. The ‘lamb’ was chewy and unseasoned and the vegetables consisted of mash potato...mixed with vegetables. Really not good at all. The deserts were fine. Our waitress was delightful.More

This place is "posh" but worth it. I had the 33 euro menu. High quality cuisine. The efficient and pleasant waiter was formally dressed and the table cloths were a pristine white. The meals were full of flavour and perfectly cooked. We enjoyed everything on our...plates.Total cost including wine and coffee totalled 108euros. Worth every penny. Highly recommendedMore

When I first entered I thought just another typical French Brasserie but already a look at the menu did not disappoint. Lots of fish and sea food and not a lot of the standard dishes, but some creative compositions such as my starter of crab...meat, salmon and scallop tartare with Yuzu sauce. My main dish was slightly disappointing as the wagyu beef tasted more like liver a d the croquettes were too fluffy and not very tasty. The portions are good and the service excellent. As the others enjoyed their respective meals ( monk fish or sole as well as Riz de veau) still a narrow 5 star for me given also the sensibly priced menu options.More
