A busy central square, with several restaurants to choose from. Cafe des Arts is open continuously from lunch through dinner (burgers and chips during the afternoon). We stopped for a drink at 6:30, and they started their dinner menus at 7:00. They have several menu options and choices. The 'menu du marche' is very good, and worth a try. Also,... More

Stopped in for breakfast more than once. Decor is beautiful - art deco but not obsessively so. Very friendly staff and the food was varied, ample and delicious.

Decent food but nothing amazing. The usual French bistro offerings. My husband had the duck and serious indigestion afterwards. My son had a burger which was good. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Food is classic brasserie style but nicely done, worth the visit. But the best is the wine list including the best of the local winemakers, make sure to try it !

Great for people watching, and the food is above average for the 'place'. Wish they would fix the fountain though!! Huge interior, so excellent all year round.

We loved their burgers and I loved the coffee. The French don't seem to understand bacon so,I suggest you ask them to leave it in the kitchen. The burger is perfectly fine without it. The frites were good as well.

Having arrived in Chinon we were strolling just looking for somewhere to eat. Saw Cafe des Arts just by the square and took a fancy to the French atmosphere. We were greeted and asked to sit in the main restaurant which was empty. No problem! We were seated by the window and had an excellent steak with sweets to follow.... More

Hello Folks, Dined here on the Evening of Sat 3rd Sept, 16. I tried to show the young man wanted I wanted form the menu, as my French is very poor. He SNATCHED the menu out of my arms, as though to say he wasn`t stupid and could understand my order in English. I was only trying to be helpful... More

The town square in Chinon has a classic French feel and several restaurants to choice from - unfortunately our choice was bad. Food here was very poor - French Fries were uncooked on all our meals we asked for replacements but they never came. After challenging the bill we were verbally abused by the owner/manager . Please AVOID at all... More

This has a lovely spot in the main square in Chinon. We found something on the menu to suit everyone. The service is prompt and friendly, and for a mid range budget this was excellent. We came back into Chinon planning to have a second meal here this holiday because we all enjoyed it, and were disappointed it wasn't open... More
