Should you love couscous, this family-owned mainstay is an off the thorough-fare delight. Take your time and enjoy the delightful fare here. (If you like mutton, and who does? This will confirm your suspicions!) Pure home cookin' and such a delightful and attentive staff. If you're the impatient type, come here and be cured, sit down, relax and have a... More

If you want to eat a very good couscous, authentic, simple as family food, I recommend you this restaurant. The couscous is very good, vegetables fresh and the sausage (merguez) is very very good. I recommend merguez or beef but not chicken which is average. Decoration is very simple but traditional and authentic. The owner, an old man, is still... More

The meal was reasonable hearty and filling but I thought more could be done with the flavors. I am no expert on couscous but it did not challenge, excite or educate me. I left feeling a bit disappointed.

My husband and I came here for lunch on a surprisingly rainy, icky day in Paris. What a nice treat to come in from the cold and have a nice serving of couscous. Since we stay in this neighborhood and have passed this place dozens of times, So it was nice to finally stop in and sample the fare. We... More

Friends gathered to celebrate my birthday with the prerequisite of some kind of African cuisine. Last visit to Paris, we ate Senegalese in the African Quarter, but this time we celebrated Moroccan style before heading to a concert at Notre Dame. We were terribly rushed (unfortunately) so we couldn't hang out and enjoy the food slowly with wine. However, the... More

What a lovely and friendly place. Get the Algerian dishes and relish the simple clean flavors! Sit at Mitterrand's table. Close to everything and great hidden history.

This place is off the beaten track and a great find. The past French president Mitterrand ate there and one of the dishes, which we ordered, was named after him. The service was prompt and very friendly. We were seated at the same table as the Pres. and it was a big table -- you usually get a table for... More

A really lucky find, a good family run place, the staff were very friendly. The couscous was delicious, and the portions very generous. Very good price, around 40 euros for three people, make sure to ask the owner about the presidents hat!

Many tourists walk past this place thinking "it doesn't look like a nice, typical Parisian restaurant"... Big mistake. The interior decoration is actually very typical for a North African home and therefore very genuine. And even better: this is a great place to have a real, home made couscous: perfectly cooked semolina, tasty gravy and nice selection of meats. Add... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighbourhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
