We had our first Paris dining experience here and it was just lovely. Close quarters--very much a "hole in the wall" feel. But excellent food, and live music that nearly had me in tears because THAT was the moment when it hit me. That I was in Paris in the Springtime. I left will a full heart and a fully... More

We're from Chicago, enjoy all types of cuisine and music. We were referred by our hotel (The Select, which has been an outstanding experience!). We were going for an early dinner, 7:30, and were one of 2 or 3 tables. (When we left, on a Tuesday evening, it was close to full.) We enjoyed a traditional escargot casserole pre-dinner. The... Food here is good and solidly French but not outstanding. It has nice atmosphere, old building with rafters and atmosphere, plus piano music and singing in the evening. Service all right.

We used to come here quit often as the restaurant is in our street. We always enjoyed the live music and the excellent dishes....until tonight...! We came in at about 9 pm and had to wait for a table downstairs where there would be live piano music...No problem at all.. but then the (new) waiter was just really rude... he... More

We were in this restaurant with our children and ordered for our daughter a "steak haché et frites" from the menu. What she got was an extremely chewy steak and some squishy potatoes. The waiter told us that they don't have a chip pan in the restaurant and have run out of minced meat. The food that was served to... More

On a very long trek from one end of Paris to another, we stumbled into this little cafe seeking some nourishment. The servers were all friendly, and they had a good selection of wine and coffee. It was a little pricier than some other places, but being so close to the Sorbonne may have been the reason why.

It was lovely. The inside and outside decor was very inviting. The waiter was friendly but a little too eccentric. The food was amazing! Would recommend.

After long two hour walk the dinner time arised. Started to look for classic french bistro while and we spotted this place. Great menu with classic and vegetarian choises. Classic hand written wine menu. After dinner we got live solo artist blues and jazz music as entertainment. Old classic interior. Great service. Recommended for classic french bistro.

This was disappointing. We called in the morning to book for the evening. The man serving was polite and friendly and took on our request for a meal for one person who requires a gluten and dairy free meal. He said there would be no problem. From the moment we arrived a different waiter was there. He was the rudest... More

A typical and charming bistro francaise. We were a big group and they did their best. I tried the canard, tasty and well done. A good place in downtown.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
