Quick afternoon lunch at Le Chansonnier. Slices of duck meat with leafy green salad and foie gras, comes with bread basket. A cup of coffee after the meal. Friendly owner and wait staff, speak very little English but courteous. They have English version of the Menu. Family place. Pretty happy with the food and service. Will try their dinner plate... If you want to eat like a local, this is the place. It's away from the maddening tourist traps and serves real traditional simple French food. The atmosphere and setting is typical French brassiere. The host was friendly and accomodating. I had my first snails experience and they where lovely. The entrecôte was delicious and washed down with an inexpensive... More

A traditional, welcoming brasserie with excellent service and delicious, no-nonsense food. As I work in the area, I go to Le Chansonnier regularly. The standard of food is always consistent and the service is quick and friendly. On the last occasion, I had a whole sea bass, perfectly cooked in lemon butter and served with a rich flavorsome ratatouille. The... More

Inviting, old France brasserie atmosphere with great food. Everything we had was good, but don't miss avocado and blue cheese gratinée. Incredible!!! Lyonnaise sausage and grilled fish also delicious. Cassoulet was good, journeyman quality, not outstanding, but welcome on a cold wet evening. Very friendly service and a clearly local clientele.

We were a party of 3 on a fairly late Sunday evening, and all the places in the neighborhood had already closed the kitchen. The staff at Le Chansonnier welcomed us and seated us notwithstanding the late hour. The atmosphere is cosy with a very nice "old style bistrot" decor (dating from the beginning of 20th century). The food is... More

There are a lot of other interesting restaurants around but for some reason this traditional french bistro caught our eye. The place is old world but interesting! Good food, friendly vibe and reasonably priced. The owner was very helpful even though we only spoke English! The food was yummy and we were hungary!

Le Chansonnier seems frozen in time in a neighborhood with a young, hip vibe and new, interesting, exciting restaurants. I'm sure it was the state of the art in its day, but it's a shopworn and depressing remnant of its glory.

Regarding this Notice below , I understand and I accept all tastes of each person , just I want to clarify to internauts and advisor's users that it is I who wish to keep "Le Chansonnier" , wonderful Bistro from the last century ( 1920) and preserve its authenticity , its original state and above not to upgrade it because... We came here after a long day roaming in pairs and found this place to have good reviews so why not. My boyfriend ordered a burger that never came instead he got a melted Camembert, which was okay to taste. I got the cut of beef and I honestly would enjoyed it if it was cooked to my liking. I... I love old school resto's and this place ticked all the boxes. Paté excellent as was goat cheese veg starter. The bar was cooked to perfection. At first the welcome was lukewarm but a few jokes and smiles brought forth the Cubano warmth from the waiter. Cotes de Provence rouge carafe was very good. The wine list has many selections... More
