The limited number of dishes on the menu is a good signe ! Everything we had was very fresh, nicely presented and flavored. The decor is warm and service is nice and professional. A very nice address to have good French light cuisine.

Had dinner in during last week of January 2015. The place really has a strong smell, that has been tried to be controlled with an artificial fragrance - this makes it worse. From the moment I stepped in it felt a mistake, but being too cold outside and a weekend I decided to go ahead with a meal. The staff... More

As noted elsewhere, this restaurant seems to have a smell issue - something like blocked drains or urinals ! I encountered this smell whilst seated on the ground floor. It seems to come and go but definitely not pleasant when it wafts by!!! Staff can be bit rude if you can only speak english - which they clearly don't like... More

We had heard good comments about this restaurant, and our hotel in the same quartier recommended it. The hotel gave is a promotional offer given to them recently by the restaurant. Les Alchemistes did not honor the promotional price. We had Coquilles St. Jacques as an appetizer. They were cold...and it was NOT supposed to be a cold appetizer. The... More

I picked this restaurant at the last minute, as it was participating in the 2 for the price of 1 for restaurant week in Paris (tousaurestaurant.com) end September and one of the few left that were available. It's a quiet area behind the Opéra Comique and only a few minutes walk from the Opéra Garnier. The ambience was cosy -... More

This is a very nice, traditional, French style restaurant. The atmosphere and service were very good and the menu appealing without being overly extensive. I had scallops followed by creme brulee, both of which were excellent. Two of us ate for €80 including two courses, half a bottle of very good Chablis and coffee. I will certainly eat there again.

Visited here for dinner as a group of friends. We came across it by chance, not having read what appear to be mixed reviews in advance. Quiet restauarant that appear to be used by locals, has a limited menu (about 5 each of starters main courses and sweets) that will cover most tastes. Good but not intrusive service. Between us... From the moment we walked though the door until we left it was a wonderful time. The food was excellent. The wine was wonderful and the service was most attentive. This is a great find on a side street not far from the Opera. All I can say is it was a joy to be there.

toptable Dining Awards 2009 - Runner Up: Best International VenueLes Alchimistes restaurant in the heart of Paris is a warm and trendy spot across from the Opera Comique and close to some great shopping, so it’s a perfect place for a shopping lunch, pre-theatre meal or evening out. The chic décor is a combination of modern mirrors, sleek seating and splashes of colourful lighting with original moulding and details. Upstairs there’s a bar and VIP lounge. Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
