The spirit and food of this restaurant is like a walk in the past jewish families. The service is lovely, and the varieties of food is endless! Will go back any time I am in Paris!

We stop in to pick up various foods and deserts. The service line is long and the service method severely slows the flow of traffic. We found some of the pastry to be dried out. The take out foods were acceptable. Somewhat overpriced and overhyped

For one, the pastries are amazing. You'll see them in the windows and they taste as good as they look. Even better is the service. I stopped in at the end of the day on a Friday. I was chatting with the clerk and I ended up leaving my wallet on the counter. By the time I realized it they... More

I came in to have a sweet pastry for breakfast. The pastry was great, the lady with glasses behind the counter was incredibly rude and impatient. I guess I had it coming being an American that can't speak French...after all, who can tolerate such ignorant people who can't speak French?! I should've saved my money to spend on more pleasant... I'm a regular visitor to Paris with my wife, as one of our sons lives and works there. We've now visited this wonderful café on many occasions over the last 2-3 years and have never been disappointed by the friendly welcome, the lovely coffee and the huge range of fantastic cakes, pastries and savouries. If you are in Paris and... More

We went two times during our recent trip to Paris. The sandwiches were very good. They offer many outstanding desserts. Their cheesecake was the best I have ever had and that includes New York City, home of some very fine cheesecakes. Also quite excellent baklava. There are some lovely hidden gardens nearby where you can eat your lunch if you... More

Wanted a light meal while walking from the Picasso Museum found this. Had a toasted salmon sandwich. Hit the spot, just what I wanted with a great coffee. Pity I did not taste the pastries as they looked delightful.

There is lovely panelled interior with walls festooned with pictures and photographs reminiscent of the old Mitteleurope. On one side is the bakery and on the other the eating area. Some seating is closely placed. It is a very popular place. Latkes, bourrek, strudels, poppyseed cakes and strudels, bagels, etc etc as well as the usual variety of French breads... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
