My boyfriend and I went here for dinner. I had a hamburger. It was fine, tasty meat, tasty salad and fries. My boyfriend took a seafood platter (30 euros). He got a lot of different kinds and it was very tasty. He was satisfied. The staff was fine, nicer than others we encountered, but their english is not that great.... More

This has been one of our watering holes in Paris for over 30 years. We have had some poor meals but many more excellent ones .We are sad to hear that they are planning a big make over no doubt to match that of Les Halles. This will change the traditional atmosphere so we will have to wait and see the result... As soon as you enter you know the place means business. Waiters that really look like professionals greet you very politely and the one in charge of your table dedicates himself to you. Apart from the impeccable service, the decor of known paintings with characters replaced by dogs pleases the eyes and makes you smile; it is all very clever.... More

A Paris institution, located next door to our hotel. We ate here when we got home very late from our evening tour of the Eiffel Tower. Food was typical of a Parisian bistro and not memorable. Open late, so you can get a decent meal in a pinch, but not worth it as a destination restaurant.

Service was spot on, food was perfectly prepared, sorbets - yum, sitting outside on a gorgeous spring evening and can't imagine a better spot.

We were passing by Au Chen and after reading the menu decided to have dinner. We were not disappointed the waiter was very helpful with the menu and we ordered escargot for appetizers and the duck for entree. It was a excellent meal and I would recommend this restaurant.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch off the €19 set menu of salmon / shellfish bisque and steak with pepper sauce. The champagne was lovely to start and the red wine from haut medoc that the staff recommended with the steak was lovely. Restaurant is beautiful but was fairly quiet. As a result, the staff were super attentive which made us feel... More

The smoking dog, classic French bistro in the Le Marais district. I was really thinking whether it is a 3 or 4 star restaurant but the traditional fare and good service won me over. The decor and ambience is what you'd see and feel at most Paris bistros, there were a few regulars and the place was packed for lunch,... More

We stayed for 2 nights just next door to Au Chien Qui Fume‎‎ and ate twice there. Friday night it was very buzzy (live music etc). We haven't booked but since we had a card from the hotel they have managed to sort us out with a table. Staff was very friendly. We got a complimentary drink. Food was delicious.... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
