We took a culinary tour of the Latin Quarter with Jean Paul and this was one of the stops. The lunch, a veal dish, was excellent and could not have been improved upon. The wines we had paired were excellent and the service was tops. This is tucked out of the way and not in the touristy part of the... More

This is an excellent restaurant in our neighborhood, close to the heart of the quartier latin. We go there rather often and enjoy the friendly service, good advice on wine, willingness to tolerate my poor French, and superb ability in English.

We visit Paris often, usually for 4 weeks at a time. This was one of the best meals I can remember. NOT A tourist trap. A true bistro with interesting delicious food and a charming server, Eli. Excellent wines and very good value. Small place so you should probably reserve.

The food here wad stunning. We went for a business meal with colleagues. Every course was perfection from the Rillette of Mackerel, through the superb steak to the Paris Brest. The wine list was impressive as well and we had a very nice white Vacqueryas. A bit of the beaten track but well worth the effort to find.

Highly recommended. I visit Paris several times a year and always try to fit in a dinner here ! Large excellent wine list. Good menu-based dinner. Sit outside in summer. Reservations a good idea.

We went twice in a fortnight with friends who live in the 5th and have pronounced this their favorite place. We ate outside one night, inside the other. Even if our friends weren't multi-lingual, we would have had no problem understanding the menu, as our waiter spoke English well enough to translate a few tricky words. The quality of the... More

A tiny Parisian bistro - I think we were the only Americans in the place. The host did speak English, so we had no problems in that regard. The menu was that of a typical Parisian bistro. I had the baked cod and my husband had duck breast. Both meals were done perfectly and tasted excellent. The wine selection was... More

After enjoying a concert by music students across the street, we adjourned to this small neighborhood bistro which was recommended by Janet's friend and neighborhood resident Grace. Her suggestion was spot on. Eli was tending bar and waiting tables and he was a perfect host - attentive, helpful, and very engaging. His wine recommendations led us to reasonably priced delicious... I've been living in this arrondissement my whole life and always appreciate the authenticity of the cuisine at Vin Sobre. Seasonal, well-made, simply fabulous food.
