I was on a tour in Paris so this restaurant was chosen for me. This is not the place to choose for the Paris experience. Restaurant is dirty. Food is okay. Service is slow. Staff is not very friendly.

The location is just a few minutes walk from the Arc de Triomphe. The service was a bit slow, but the staff were friendly and spoke English. There is a meal deal which includes a main and dessert. The steak was requested as well done but arrived medium; the sauce was tasty. The desserts were nice and not too big.

Mixed feelings. Snails and wine very good, T-bone half delicious, half cardboard. Coffee disappointing. But the waiter was really nice and helpful.

When I visited Hippopotamus I was expecting OK food considering this is a chain or franchise, however I was pleasantly surprised. Whilst the menu design made it look like a fast food place, the food itself was delicious and well prepared, although the portion was not as large as I expected. The staff were friendly and spoke reasonable English (unfortunately... More

The menu looks fun, but the food doesn't match. The steak was very chewy. The chips and mac and cheese were tasty. The service was slow. Where was the butter from the bread(is this a french thing) the salt pot no salt in it(it wasn't empty even the stopper was missing so if you put salt in it would fall... More

We came here for a birthday meal looking for a good value lunch of steak and fries. The restaurant chain provides reasonably priced menus and good quality dishes. We ate our fill and left satisfied without paying an arm and a leg. A good choice for a family lunch close to the local shopping streets

Ate alone one one night so took a steak at hippotomus close to hotel. Ordered a Charleroi steak, cooked exactly as I ordered. Service was quite slow. Side dish of potatoes was awful, just a mush. Considering that the standard option is fries, I wish I hadn't 'upgraded' to the other side dish. Could be much better considering that the... More

If you like overdone steak and overcooked green beans that fall apart on the fork, this is a place you will enjoy. Otherwise, you can get a better steak almost anywhere else in Paris, except, probably, another Hippopotamus restaurant.

I didn't expect much of this chain restaurant and my low expectations have been met. I liked the Tzatziki Saumon as a starter. The rest of the meal was of very acceptable quality and reasonably priced.

We went to hippopotamus looking for a huge slice of prime beef. Sadly the beef was very small, undercooked and overpriced. The sides were plain with no creativity and the wine was very expensive considering the quality. Our order was forgotten for desert and no apology given. Despite this the beef was good quality but I would not eat here... More
