This is the most difficult review I have written. In 1979 I was having dinner in Venice, as it turned out, with a French Countess and an Italian Baronessa who both lived in Paris, and I asked them what was the best restaurant in Paris. Without hesitation they both said Au Moulin a Vent, Henri IV. So I went and... More

This little restaurant I would love to claim as a personal find but went as the D & K eyewitness lists it as one of the top ten in the area. My wife an I went for dinner and we were more than impressed. We had the foie gras, escargot and the frogs legs. It is French after all. The... More

This is our second visit to this restaurant, the food is lovely, the service is very good and we love the vibe. It is always busy so make sure you reserve a travel, we made our reservation before we left Australia to make sure we didn't miss out. The Frogs Legs are excellent and so are their Escargot. We wouldn't... More

I am almost afraid to post too favorable a review since I rarely find American tourists here and would hate to see this fun little bistro turn into a haven of loud and brash Americans or Germans. That said, the quality of the hosts and their fine restaurant deserve to be acknowledged. Furthermore, we learned about this fine bistro from... More

The staff, the food, the ambiance all work together to create that great parisian vibe. The quality of the produce is always top-notch. The beef fillet with a side of pommes persilées à l'ail is very tasty.

My chef friend recommended Au Moulin A Vent to us as a "must" for our trip to Paris, and he was absolutely right. We ate really well in Paris, but this was our most memorable meal both for the quality of food, drink, service, ambiance and value. And it met all our expectations for a special meal in Paris. We... We have been to Au Moulin a Vent four times now. They have never disappointed us. The food is always delicious. We had frog legs, which I recommend. It is a specialty of theirs. We also had sautéed mushrooms, which were delicious, steak with bourdennais sauce, terrine, cod with potatoes, and steak with onions. All were excellent.

We were last here in '88 on the recommendation of a colleague. It was great then and just as good after almost 30 years. The foods delicious and the waiters very attentive. I remember well the "game" of " if we don't have a half bottle other wine you fancy we'll open a bottle. Drink half or less and we'll... More

After visiting the very nice Museum of the Arab World (Institut du Monde Arabe) next to Notre-Dame island in Paris downtown, we have been advised by our guide to go to the restaurant next door in the same street: "Au Moulin a Vent Chez Henri". The meat specialties are just terrific, the best meat dishes we had since a long... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
