Authentic charming restaurant. Herring with remouladesauce as starter and an entrecote (huge one!) as main. Wine per glass or per bottle - but "No problem! You drink what you want from the bottle and we charge for that!" Food is really well prepared! Service even better! A must for a long lunch.

While there's nothing wrong with the food -- it is perfectly adequate for where you are, what you pay and what it is, if you are going for food there are undoubtedly better places to dine. You go here because it is the quintessential parisian brasserie. At the right hour, it will be chockablock full of natives and tourists, elbow... More

Friendly management and wait staff. They were patient with me when I tried ordering a specific drink. Warm and inviting surroundings. Great place to people watch or meet new people. Seating is traditional Parisian style, which means it's easy to meet other people. Free Wifi, even outside. Plenty of heaters outside. Thank you, Paul and Pascal for the wonderful service.... More

Enjoy the salad of the day while you people-watch tourists and Parisians crossing the bridge from Notre Dame (Ile de la Cité). Lovely outdoor seating amidst the trees. Average French bistro food.

There are now few restaurants in Paris, which continue to cater to both locals and tourists alike: this is one of them. Although on a normal week-day lunch, you will see a steady stream of 'habitues' coming in, you will also find the brave tourists, who have strayed further than Notre-Dame and decided to cross the bridge to l'Isle Saint... We had a great dinner here on a cool night in July. We were ready for some good beer and food with a German flavor. The Alsatian specialty coq au Riesling was fabulous, and my husband ate every bite of the fish special that was recommended by the waiter. This place just felt like a great, old school brasserie ,... The area around I love but this was by far the worst experience. Terrible waiter (we saw another couple sit down and leave again because of the waiter). Bread was stale. And incredibly expensive for what you get. Go across the road. So many other better options around.

Thank you for your terrible comment. What you get in my family owned restaurant since 1953 is clear: Homemade cooking made with fresh products only!! No frozen products No industrial preparations Sorry but that's what we do and been doing for over 60 years!! Bread is fresh and deliver every morning by the renown baker next street. So yes people... Had chicken with vegetables and onion tarte. The chicken was reheated, dry and had an odd taste. The green beans was can beans and was not properly heated. The price was high an the quality bad. I strongly advise you to try an different place.

Thank you for your charming comment. Our chicken is a farmer breed from Challans, probably one of the best in France not the intensive livestock production you're probably use to. As a matter of fact we only use fresh products, not frozen or any industrial preparations. Vegetables like green beans are delivered fresh every morning and we've never used can... More

Ever since I first saw the Brasserie de l'Isle Saint-Louis on ABC's "What Would You Do?" Paris Episode, I have wanted to come and try this place when I would be in town. Though I would definitely not follow Bob and Bonnie's example of behaving like the stereotypical Ugly Americans. That opportunity finally presented itself this September, during a short... More

Description
The Brasserie was established in 1870 and has been serving continuously since. It has become a Paris tradition, for Parisians and other friends from all over the world. The decor has been kept and the traditional french food is authentic and home made with only fresh products. Located in the most romantic and beautiful area, on the small island by Notre Dame right in the heart of the old Paris. The Brasserie will welcome you in a warm and cosy Parisian atmosphere in winter, while in summer you will enjoy a drink or a meal as well as the island's famous Berthillon ice cream on the terrace with its magnificent view of Paris. We serve from noon to 11pm (close on Wednesdays) and we do not take reservations so come whenever you want. We hope that you will enjoy our restaurant and we hope to see you soon.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
