If you like cold, ludicrously overpriced food served in a cold and ludicrously Rude manner then head straight to Cafe Beaubourg. We stopped here for a refuel from a morning walking around Paris and please do not make the same mistake as us. I have lived in Paris and am entirely aware that service levels can vary and prices can... More

3 friends. 2 had tea. Mariage Frère tea bags. Neither brewed satisfactorily. Why? Water not hot enough? Old bags? Anyway don't order tea here. They have no idea. The smoothie I had was excellent as were the pastries we ordered: cheesecake, huge profiterole, crème brûlée. Still it's a great location but don't order tea!!

Inattentive staff, took us 10 minutes to be even offered a drink, and I had to go up and ask for menus and some water. The green bean starter looked like someone had microwaved a bag of beans and dumped it on a plate. The steak was mediocre, chicken rubbery. The wine was okay. Once the service got going it... More

This is a great spot to people watch, have a cup of coffee or a nice cold beer and just sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of Paris.

The venue itself is lovely and the cave bathroom is pretty cool but this is where I run out of positives. Our food was mediocre at best: gazpacho starter which was ok, chicken with rubbery skin and what appeared to be instant mashed potato with no green or garnish for a main, 3 small cake things for dessert which might... Avoid. Our server was polite and prompt, but the food was really mediocre. Plus there were mice on the patio! When I told the server he said that was normal. I'm sorry, but having mice in a restaurant is NOT normal. I understand it was in a patio area, but still...

One of the guards at the Centre Pompideau recommended this place, which is across the square from the museum. The food was delicious. I had a chicken dish with a tarragon sauce. Great value.

By special request (in advance) they put on a Sunday Brunch for a large group of friends - superb. Great service, fantastic food, good value. Can't praise them highly enough.

Cafe Beaubourg is frequented by trendy Parisians and tourists alike. Sophisticated and efficient, a wonderful place to stop, meet, relax, drink and eat. Personally I love their chicken caesar salads.

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
