Excellent traditional French cuisine. Generous portions and a good selection of side dishes. Recommended: boeuf bourgignon, veal with white sauce and rice, coq au vin and andouillette. Representative of traditional French cuisine of good quality.

We almost always do one dinner here each time we are in Paris. Love the herring and potatoes in oil, the Lyonnais sausage with lentils. The decor is an interesting melange of posters from various art exhibitions and the waiters are typical French waiters--they know what they are doing and they do it well and expect you to do the... I visited this bistro almost 50 years ago for the 1st time.the decor is exactly the same the staff is as friendly as it was then and the food is as good at it was but I regret some of the dishes that not on the menu anymore(coq au vin) This is a very classical french bistro, they know what they... I went there at the recommendation of my nearby hotel and it was fine. A classic brasserie with very friendly and cheerful service and a good, traditional menu. I recommend all I had: foie gras, boeuf bourguignon and a choice of good, affordable wines.

I may stop going to Chez Rene a restaurant which always loved. Ambience remains excellent. Food portions have mysteriously been reduced. It is unseemly for a waiter in such a classy place to be asking customers for tips. Very unpleasant.

Chez Rene is simply a great Parisian bistro located in Saint Germain. Very small restaurant where the foods are amazing and services very good. We were surprised about so friendly service by the owner for providing so nice tips as Plate du Jour and selected wine. I'm excited to come back soon

Delicious meal & fantastic service. Ask for the special liqueur de maison at the end of your meal for a rare treat. Merci Daniel!

Cozy place with traditional French setting. We had some appetizers and beef tartar/steak for main courses. Beef tartar was great but steak was over-done. I requested medium and it came out to be well-done.

Delicious with great service! After receiving a recommendation and reading the rave reviews. we decided to give this place a try. Daniel was our server and high was kind, accommodating and helpful. He gave us great recommendations and we loved the beef bourguignon and duck. Oh.. the duck! The mousse was fabulous and we rolled out of there fat and... More

Chez Rene continues to be what French dining always was: extraordinary on every level. My remark on a changing EU is relevant. Over the past ten years the influx of the peoples from throughout the EU, especially eastern Europe has changed the culture. I do not criticize the change, or the wonderfully different population. Yet, finding the real traditions of... More

Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner.
