PRO'S: This is the go to spot in Paris for folks craving American food. We did 2016 Thanksgiving dinner here and enjoyed. Served well made guacamole & chips when seated and had fabulous gravy with solid dishes. Bourbon Pecan Pie for dessert was real deal. Had a rose' bottle with dinner and lots of selection on wine list. CON'S: Only... More

My first trip to New York was at Joe Allen in the 70s. "First hamburger in Paris". Aux Halles. One always says it was better before. But I've never stopped visiting this French vision of America since then. Anyway here vision is not so far from reality. A classic diner. Inside hardwood decor, red brick walls, long mahogany bar, round... More

My family was in Paris during Thanksgiving week and we really were bummed that we weren't having our traditional turkey for the holiday. I looked up restaurants last minute that would have a turkey dinner. I saw rave reviews about this place and luckily they and space the day before Thanksgiving but were sold out for Thanksgiving day. The food... More

We got recommended going here from a local, but we were very disappointed. Boring fries and garnish, burger were ok. I had lamb shanks, but they were overgrilled. Poor garnish here as well. Fast service in the start, but slowed down towards the end.

Saturday night dinner with a girlfriend, we were looking for a cosy not too noisy place and Joe Allens certainly fit the bill. The Buffalo wings were delicious. I was very disappointed with my Spare rib main. Too fatty, the jacket potato was dry and hard. I ordered a carrot cake, which was perhaps the worst carrot cake I've ever... More

On my one day trip to Paris I had just enough time to have a quick drink in Joe Allen.I met my friends there and we set in isolated and heated terrace where we could smoke ,which was just great for a rainy wheather.I didn't expect such a warm entertainment which I received from Graham and all Joe Allen staff.Big... Very similar to the New York and London branches but well worth a visit for the Brunch with Mimosas. On Easter Monday there were lots of local families. We managed to get a quiet table in the back. Service and food excellent.

Great burgers, cokes, chips, service, wifi, waiting staff (all seemingly expats certainly fluent). Who'd a thought we'd find a vegan burger in a bio-bun in the heart of Paris! Ace, loved it, top marks 😍😍😍😍😜

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
