On my way back from the Edgar Quinet market - with a live lobster in a plastic bag - my eye fell on the ardoise of Lopportun. The main dish of the day was a great favourite of mine: ROGNONS ... So I saved the lobster for the evening and had a typical Lyonnaise salad with lardons and a poched... More

Very fair prices for a very good typical cuisine from Lyon. I have to admit that the “Salade de pissenlits aux lardons et oeuf poché “ was one of the best I ever had. The salad was cut almost like a julienne and everything was perfect. It’s a simple dish but so good. Chef Serge Alzerat gave us a warm... More

Excellent cuisine -good value for money (Menu 30 Euros for 3 courses/25 for 2 courses) A very good address in this Montparnasse area . Cuisine is from Lyon . The chef although a star on TV specialised cooking channels, still cooks himself in this tiny restaurant , few tables - reservation a must - We had quenelles , ie fish... More

If like me you like your beef well hung, try this restaurant, it is rare in Paris to find such well looked after meat. The classical bouchon menu is varied enough for most carnivorous people and the quality of the products used is very high. Service is simple but extemely aimiable, and the wine list good even for non Beaujolais drinkers (good... More

Regional restaurant, led by the owner himself, with good dishes. Prices are a bit high, but the portions are plentiful. Dishes such as roast lamb or the "carnad de magret' are house specialties. In addition, the entries are very appetizing. An entry suggestion: hering preserve with potatoes.

Although the French are noted for their wonderful cuisine, sometimes we Americans think we are the only ones who can produce great beef steaks. We discovered this superb restaurant this week that features Lyonnais beef and it was simply terrific !

This Lyon style restaurant is proposing a good bench of specialties (tablier de sapeur, saucisson à la pistache, quenelle) as well as various pieces of meat of reasonable quality. For starters, you should prefer the cooked ones (ravioles, snails) than the salads that have good ingredients but are prepared in a lazy way (not enough care on the dressing and... More

We used to go to Paris at least 2 or 3 times a year and often eat in this restaurant. That was 6 years ago. Always recommended it to our friends. We had not been to Paris since then. Kids! Easter weekend ,thanks to mother-in-law, we went back to Paris and to this restaurant. What a disappointment. The prices have... More

It is just average, I would not go out of my way for this place! There are so many places in the area, and this one does not stand out. Just go to the first place you run across.

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighbourhood Profile
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
