3 MICHELIN Stars: Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey!
Just a block from the Champs-Élysées, this restaurant is set in the elegant and luxurious La Réserve. Refinement is the name of the game in this 19C Napoleon III-style mansion done out in magnificent materials, such as gilt Spanish leather and featuring Versailles parquet flooring, as per Jacques Garcia's redesign. Jérôme Banctel asserts his unique culinary personality with two tasting menus: "Virée", a tribute to his native Brittany, and "Périple", an invitation to travel the world – taking in Japan, as well as Turkey, where the chef discovered the incomparable textures produced by cooking with lime water; there is also a game menu in season. These high-calibre menus conjure up a vast range of sensations and flavours – whether tart or sweet and sour, or drawing on spices or seafood. And his talent as a cosmopolitan alchemist enables him to draw everything together harmoniously. The full-bodied, concentrated sauces are the best way to understand this cuisine, which may be highly technical but it keeps that under wraps. The sand carrot with peppery ginger, and the artichoke heart with cherry blossom vinegar deserve a special mention. An exceptional mealtime.

We spent a very pleasant evening at Gabriel, which we were discovering that evening. The cuisine is, as you would expect, absolutely exquisite even if all the dishes (we had opted for the "Transfer" menu) are not equal.
I will remember in particular 3 dishes:
-The impressive "sand carrot, tangy ginger", which leaves a taste impression diametrically opposed to the impression any given by the title or visual appearance of this dish.
The dish of the evening for me, from the gastronomic genius to the raw, the "Tagliatelles d'encornet, jus duck, caviar Kristal". Probably one of the most beautiful dishes I've ever had in recent years. A texture, balance, originality, length in the mouth that make it an absolutely masterful dish. Grandiose.
"Blue lobster with bichotan, buttent, pumpkin seed" was perhaps the best lobster I've ever tasted. Perfection in simplicity (relative, but it's a pretty clean dish)
The other dishes were of lesser interest, although they were all delicious. I will illustrate the point with the "scallops, turnip daikon, citrus", which is a treat... that leaves you a little hungry. It's perfect, but it lacks daring and intensity. Some kind of boring excellence. The desserts, although very good ("Caramel apple, Ribot milk, roasted buckwheat" and "Lime kumquat, yogurt, chestnut honey") are behind the above.
The service was very kind, although perhaps a quick hint. Especially since the menu in question had been presented to us in an almost deterrent way ("it's very long, it takes at least 3 hours"), which surprised us. Result of the races, in 2h15/2h20 we gobbled up, in addition to the appetizers and cuteness, some 10 dishes.
We liked the setting only moderately: the room is rather small, dark (dark tones, subdued light), and a little "loaded" in a taste that oscillates between rococo and kitsch. Special.
Small disappointment also on the wine list. It is beautiful, of course, but not at the level you would expect from a three-star: many big names absent, many vintages too young, and prices on the whole too high (when you have allocations from the estates, you can compare. For example on La Tâche it is nearly 6 times the sale price domain. Gloups...).
Overall it is a very nice experience, which we would be willing to relive with pleasure. However, there is room for progress, which is a good promise for the future.

In the discreet hotel of the reserve is the double-starred restaurant Le Gabriel.
In an intimate room with elaborate decor, around ten tables for fluid and gastronomic service.
We went there for lunch and we took the chef's menu according to his moods which we trusted.
Price-wise: €98 for lunch is an exceptional price considering the setting and the cuisine.
If you are looking for a restaurant with gourmet, sophisticated cuisine and service worthy of the greatest Michelin stars in the world, you are in the right place.

We were looking forward to dinner at this restaurant with 3 recent stars.
We choose the Transfer menu despite the words of the waiter who supports our table, that we leave for 3 hours at the table, that it is very long if we are not used to... but we do not change our choice.
The dishes are beautiful , good and quality products.
The only dish that surprises us is the blue butternut lobster pumpkin seed , a marriage of amazing taste and a really successful cooking.
The service is urgent and too fast. Fortunately we are offered a pose before the desserts we enjoy.
The dessert caramel apple sublime, but the dessert kumquat honey chestnut too strong in honey despite a splendid presentation.
The room is elegant but austere in color and despite the few tables in the room the chef did not come to see his guests: really a shame.
We ate well but we were not sensitive to the excellence of the cooking used.

Another trip to Paris meant an excuse to find another Michelin three star restaurant to dine at! After doing some research, I had to go with Le Gabriel as it literally just earned its third star in 2024. To me, that just shows me that they really grinded to get that third star. After coming here, Michelin dining in Paris is still peak dining!
Reservations for Le Gabriel aren't terribly hard to book as long as you are on top of when they come out. But it's certainly not anywhere close to as difficult as booking three stars in the U.S. Having so many three stars in Paris definitely plays a factor here.
Le Gabriel offers the Virée menu, which is their standard menu, and the Périple menu, which is a more flavorful menu. Seven courses was €278 and nine courses was €378. Our servers told us the Virée menu would have a lot of different flavors and might not be for everyone...but clearly they haven't met my palate where I'm always chasing flavor!
As expected, the food here was at a comprehensively elite level. The techniques they used to cook each dish was so unique. And the creativity was off the charts! Every dish just hit the spot. It's hard to really pinpoint a favorite because I liked every dish. But if I had to pick three, the abalone with caviar, Binchotan grilled spiny lobster, and the mackerel were my top picks. You could just see the execution and attention to detail for each dish.
Of course, the service has to match the quality of the food and I would have expected no less than they were on point here. Le Gabriel has an army of waiters ready to go at all times. Every dish was explained to extreme detail. We even had our mackerel finished and prepared right in front of us! Ended up striking a decent rapport with Arnaud, who could tell we were very interested in the techniques used to cook every dish and took his time to explain in good detail. I have been to many three Michelin star restaurants, but you never take great service for granted.
Ambience is as I would expect for a Parisian Michelin three star restaurant. It is located in the La Réserve hotel. And the dining room we were in...was literally the restaurant. There is no other room. Made me feel very exclusive, as it became very clear to me that each table is seated only once per night since the dinner took four hours. I enjoyed the layout, very high ceilings and tables spaced far from each other. You never had to speak too loud in here. Also grateful that we were seated on the edge rather than the center, which allowed me to take the room in.
I salute Le Gabriel for earning its third star this year. I personally wanted to come here because I knew they were still hungry to prove they belonged, and they did not disappoint. Haute cuisine in Paris is just on a totally different level than anywhere else!

Extremely high-toned, elegant interior, but with a staff that is not afraid to mix up the formality with a little humor (especially the gentleman whose voice could be mistaken for a Brando impersonator). A very nice and fairly priced wine list, though I wish the Burgundy selection was broader. The carrot dish is a piece of heaven and the sauce accompanying it will take you to places you’ve never been. This dish is a masterpiece of execution. We liked all the dishes at Le Gabriel but one involved a roulade of chicken wrapped around shellfish. Despite the attractiveness of the presentation, this combo and the accompanying sauce were not well matched. Presentations of all dishes were sensational and the flavorings used in the sauces were quite distinctive.

I first visited Le Gabriel in 2016 shortly after it’s awarded 2 Michelin stars. At that time it wasn’t difficult at all to book dinner.
The restaurant got its third Michelin star earlier this year. I tried to book well ahead before my recent trip to Paris. Due to the limited number of tables and the restaurant’s need to optimize space for dinner, I as a solo diner only managed to book lunch.
I didn’t take the more affordable lunch menu since I wished to try as many dishes of chef Jerome Banctel as possible. I chose Menu Virée with 9 courses which is a tribute to chef’s native Brittany. The other option, Menu Périple, is an invitation to travel the world.
Everything from amuses bouche to bread to entrées to main course to pre-dessert to mignardises were very delicious. In particular, the sauce of each dish was beautifully concocted and concentrated and went very well with the food.
Highlights included:
- sand carrot stuffed with carrot purée (a signature dish)
- abalone with Kristal caviar and lentil salad
- blue lobster cooked in binchotan (the best dish of the meal)
- octopus with buckwheat risotto
- roasted chicken with a cep mushroom tart.
To conclude, it’s a very enjoyable meal. I dined in 12 Michelin starred restaurants during my 14-day trip to Basel, Zurich and Paris. My meal in Le Gabriel was one of the most memorable. The food, the setting and the service were all superb. I went to the restaurant with high expectations and left happily with a very full stomach.
The bill was about 480 euros which was expensive but it’s worth the price.
I’d like to visit the restaurant again to try Menu Périple. Hopefully I’ll be able to book a table for dinner.

Extraordinary still journeys!
Exceptional welcome in an incredibly timeless establishment a stone's throw from the Champs Élysées and the Marigny theater. The atmospheres are cozy, warm and intimate, it’s a real setting. The servers wonderfully orchestrate the succession of dishes prepared with originality, delicacy, subtlety and deliciousness. Our sommelier was able to find the perfect pairings to accompany and enhance them.
A 20 out of 20, thank you to the whole team for making this moment special and unforgettable.

Overrated place. We sat outside in the lounge/street and beautiful to have good champagne, however we were obliged to seat in the restaurant later in order to have the aperitivo table. Inside the restaurant prices of course are for Michelin star restaurant. However food was not good. Tuna with caviar bad mix, vitello tonato is much better in it's original simple version. The lobster "kind of" roll was not bad, however it's presentation is not good for such a level of restaurant. Even olive oil from the table was not strong enough, in Italy you eat much better with a much lower price.
Chocolate dessert had a good taste and presentation.
Would never recommend to come to this please to spend so much money and not get good food nor ambience.

Oh, what can I say... I think we're going stop going to Michelin starred restaurants, especially in Paris.
Don't get me wrong, it's a decent meal. But here's the thing about Michelin starred restaurants, and Le Gabriel is no exception...
First of all, lack of choice. The chef decides what you eat, not you. Yeah, they'll make some accommodations, but basically if you're with someone who doesn't like this and doesn't like that, and you just want to choose what you eat, then this isn't the right kind of experience for you.
Now, me, I eat everything. But even so, I didn't necessarily like every flavor of every dish. And when you're paying like 700 EU for a dinner for two, you kind of want it to be perfect.
Yeah, the food was pretty creative and all that. And of course the staff was flawless. But I've had Michelin starred experiences that just knocked my socks off. But this just wasn't it.

This restaurant is truly a pure wonder worthy of its stars... or maybe the other way around.
Thanks to Jérôme Banctel, talented chef who sublimates French cuisine and our taste buds. Thanks also to the whole brigade so attentive and so professional. Gabriel is now one of our favorites and we are full of praises like our top 5 of our list of hearts of Patient stars (Epicure, George, Guy Savoy, Pierre Gagnaire).

We went to Le Gabriel for lunch and took the "Escales" menu (75 euros per person). The food was amazing, and the service was extraordinary. A special thanks to Mr. Vincent, the restaurant's manager, who took care of us, surprised us with extra dishes and arranged a perfect Parisian experience. We highly recommend dining at Le Gabriel, the value for money is enormous. Such a great deal for lunch at a 2-Michelin star restaurant is hard to find, don't miss it!

La perfection de la cuisine française!
If you find perfection, balance, class of environment, staff and food... then I'm going to look for some negatives, without finding them.
I could observe (in my opinion, of course) the clothing of the staff in gray tweed, elegant for men, very chaste and simple for women almost to make the waiting staff "disappear" from view that instead, is always present, attentive and not intrusive.
Amenities on the -1 floor with curved staircase that could create some difficulty in getting off, but even there elegance is queen.
The food, the wine and champagne cellar, the setting... perfection.
Unique experience of French haute cuisine. Congratulations!

Jérôme Banctel is an ace in balancing tastes and playing with textures. Each dish is truly remarkable, some are unforgettable (lobster with peach and verbena, squid tagliatelle with caviar, etc.). Only the desserts leave a - slight - feeling of banality (although excellent).

Our table of four enjoyed the quiet beauty of the dining room in this elegant boutique hotel. Service was friendly and as others have said, impeccable. I received two phone calls before our dinner to assure we had no allergies or profound food dislikes ( there was one allergy they worked around beautifully) and to discuss the special occasion birthday arrangement. The table chose the shorter of the two menus, courses inspired by the chef’s native Brittany, and we were overwhelmed by amuses bouche and the delicious creativity of the courses - no foam or weird stuff, just hearty ingredients prepared unusually and elegantly. We like to think we are sophisticated diners, and we were stretched in delightful ways. We had plenty to eat and were well advised on a wine pairing.

We had an exceptional evening. Everything is absolutely perfect: the welcome, the service, the advice of the sommelier... There is really nothing to say, quite the contrary. CUISINE, an enchantment and it would be futile to try to summarize it in a few sentences. I will do it in a single sentence, and I am sure that the chef will understand and appreciate the comparison: there is Olivier Rollinger in Jérôme Banctel...
Many thanks again for this evening.
