Because we had booked a ticket for the opera, we had to found a decent restaurant to go to before the opera started. Service was very moderate with lots of faults from the waiters. Also the quality of the food was moderate. You see that...More

I was on my own in a rainy Parisian winter Sunday and more or less fell into this place (having read about it somewhere). I was quickly placed at a nice table, and almost immediately served some good tapenade and bread. My order was just...More

We picked this restaurant because it is next to the opera. I was surprised how beautiful the 2nd floor was. The tables were far apart. The view of the Place de la Bastille from our window table was terrific. Food? Only good. I mis-ordered (my...More

I am usually wary of restaurants right next to big theatres, as they tend to be overpriced - and sacrifice quality...but it was raining and just too appealing to be within 30 meters of the Opera ahead of the show. We only had a small...More

Food is good, service is fine and the location is excellent but come on, this is te 21st century...the digital century! You internet is weak, inconsistent an unreliable.

This is an attractive brasserie with good ambience, smartly dressed waiters and warm lighting. I called in for an early evening drink on the way back to the hotel. For some reason my order got forgotten and I had to wait a while for my...More

Wished to dine early ie at 4pm or so when most local restaurants were closed. Found this restaurant and eventually obtained a table near the main entrance on the inside....you can also dine outside. On arriving we were left unattended for several minutes despite the...More

Stunning view on Place de la Bastille from the large heated terrace. Where I’m used to have a glass of Muscadet and an oysters platter when I’m in the zone. I think that a full dinner at Les Grandes Marches is too expensive but a...More

We visited this restaurant twice, once sitting outside in the good weather, once with friends inside. It is nearly always busy, but the service is good, and relatively fast. The food good, not exciting, but absolutely ok. The prices for Paris acceptable. This is quite...More

Bastille / Oberkampf
Bastille and Oberkampf are lively parts of town made
for entertainment. During the day rows of unassuming
bars welcome customers for a bite or a drink, but it’s
at night this area really comes to life. Students and
young professionals fill the busy bars around Bastille
and Oberkampf. At Place de la Bastille, crowds flock
to the Opéra Bastille in the evening and groups wait
for coveted tickets during the day. Towards

Description
Brasserie "Les Grandes Marches" is right by the Opéra Bastille and has been through a seriously befitting update since the new owner took over in the summer of 2012.The lounge spirit is out and the hallmark composed class and lighting that define great brasseries is back. The Art Deco influence is undeniable and the spirit intertwines with the Opera and its "grandes marches" (great steps) that gave this establishment its name. Once you step into Les Grandes Marches, the word that comes to mind is serenity. You leave the Bastille's hustle and bustle behind, loosen up and take your time to enjoy life on the handsome, firm, fleshy benches and watch the waiters' ballet among the curving and broken lines around the room – starting with the curving grand staircase that smacks of a tux-and-tie dinner on a transatlantic liner.
