When in Paris i always try to visit this restaurant which excels in asian fresh food (vietnamese, thai). Try to make a reservation to avoid waiting. Very much recommended.

Great food (Thai/Viet/Lao), relaxed atmosphere, attentive service...everything you are looking for. While not as casual (or even funky) as some of the more family-oriented Asian eateries in the Port d'Ivry area, this restaurant offers a good middle-ground dining experience that anyone can enjoy. I loved the garlic frog and tom yum. Everyone else at the table also was very happy.... More

We have family who live in the 13th (aka 'Chinatown') and, having visited them often, know that it doesn't take much to find a good Asian restaurant. However, this was a new one for us and, dining with four others, had a wonderful meal with great service. I had the garlic frog, which was everything I could hope for. The... More

This has been recommended by everyone I know that has lived in Paris. And they are not wrong! It is excellent. It has decent prices. The locals (and tourists like me) love it. However I always go to the "old" location. The new one is literally across the street. But I've heard it's just as good.

3 of us went to this place based on recommendations from TripAdvisor. We had wonderful tom yum soup, pad thai was good, the curry dish was good. The Vietnamese Goi Shrimp salad appetizer was good. The duck dish was ok. But overall, the food was tasty. Nice ambiance, good service. We sat upstairs, the place is nicely decorated. The only... More

Invited to that restaurant by a couple of friends living nearby, I started with very mixed feelings: The place is modern and welcoming in decoration and was crowded, but mostly with european guests. Having often eaten in that district of the city, also known as the Parisian China Town, I had heard that the best proof of quality for a... More

Went there for dinner. The place was packed. Service was not very attentive, had to ask for our stuff a few times and they charged us for the coffee which never came. Lao food was great. Vietnamese dishes were not so authentic.

Very, very nice place. I have been going there for years, far before it was so well-known. The food is very good, the Tom Yun is excellent but it is victim of its success: it is very busy and you hardly can get a table without a reservation now.

It's not the first time I've been there but no doubt I do not regret to come back. It is situated in Paris south China town (13 district) which is more Asian than chinese (mix of Vietnamese, Cambodian and Thai restaurants). Knowing that forget the Thai and Vietnamese dishes and focus on the ones from Laos. If the sausages are... More

We ended up here just by chance. Had done a big shopping run at Tang Frères down the street and were hungry at lunchtime on a Saturday. There are many restaurants to choose from on this street but this one seemed to have one of the most interesting combos, i.e. a fairly nice interior, full of people (always a good... More

Staying in Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique

Neighbourhood Profile
Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.
