We have eaten here several times and we're not disappointed to have chosen La Coupole to celebrate my husband's birthday. The meal was delicious and the service was excellent. I couldn't remember if I had mentioned his birthday on the reservation but we decided we did not have room for dessert anyway. The lights dimmed in the restaurant and all... More

Having visited La Coupole two years ago we wanted to take friends that hadn't been before. Our orders were taken but we had to wait a considerable time for the starters to arrive. Cold bread rolls on saucers were placed on the table. One of our guests ordered egg benedict starter that arrived totally undercooked so we returned it. The... More

You have to go New Years Eve. At the 00.00 a tower of glasses of champagne is getting full of champagne , which is been offered to the guests. It s a no ending theatric scene. Also the thing that you don't have to book for the table, just wait. The sea food is excellent.

On my third recent working visit to Paris in two months, I thought I should try out one of the more restaurant / less bistro style eating places. Girding my wallet for a thorough workout I ventured into La Coupole. My welcome was smiling and immediately switched to English when he realised that my schoolboy French was much worse than... More

The quality of the food is below average, the price clear above average. Ambiance is OK, but it's far away from being charming. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

A romantic brasserie treats all the gourmets, very nice ambiance; french classics, very good meat, nice card of wine, for an exeptional evening, you are not to be disappointed.

We were a large group setting off on a barge trip. This was our first night in Paris and we chose this place as a favorite return for one of our companions. Our first time. The food was fine, nothing exceptional. Service was good. Total cost, pricey!

I first visited La Coupole back on 1980s when it was 'independently owned'. I have visited several times since but each time slightly worse than before. For last 25 years it is part of a 'group' and sadly it shows. They are resting on their reputation. It is a lovely looking restaurant- but the service was average and the attitude... More

We have just had dinner at La Coupole and the food was truly awful. We had onion soup, which was like some left over greasy broth with a couple of onions in it. This was served with grated cheese and some horrid dry nasty factory grilled bread. The lamb curry was cold. Nothing at all like the original Coupole lamb... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighbourhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
