I visited Carcassonne alone and walk-in to this family owned restaurant by myself. Since the restaurant was quite full at that moment, I was offered to share a table nearby the entrance with a gentleman, the husband of the chef (who later talk with me about everything in Cacarssonne and France). I took one of the sets, the salad with... More

Okay, I didn't have hight hope in the first place as Carcassonne caters to mass tourism and each time I go I find that I am disappointed with the meal from my chosen restaurant. Cotten de Maille had a vacant table outside on the roadside terrace so we took a chance, it was nice to rest in the sun after... More

Great food & service. Delicious mussels & omelette. Very prompt service and friendly staff. Location a bit cramped on side of the pavement

My husband and I went here for lunch today and were SO impressed! He had a cassoulet and I had the vegetarian lasagne. France isn't the easiest of places if you don't eat meat or fish, and I was blown away by how tasty the lasagne was. My husband also really enjoyed his cassoulet. The staff were friendly and helpful,... More

An unassuming restaurant with the best food in Carcassonne if you are after a medieval meal! We tried a few places before we found this gem and we ate there every day after that. I'd never eaten wild boar before (my personal favourite) or deer or pheasant and the cassoulet is easily the best in town. Staff were animated (willing... More

Seriously a restaurant ? I had better food at my military service and that food was beneath contempt. Please look at my attached photo of the "ribeye" steak, for sure that was not ribeye and the piece of meat was totally inedible. Tougher than tough, medium was rare and accessories, totally over cooked and inedible. There are tourist restaurants and... More

Especially known for its famous "cassoulet" (canard confit, agneau, saucisse, haricots lingot) this little restaurant offers "medieval" menus. We found great service and genuine "homemade" food. We only wanted a bit and ordered an omelette w/fromage and a Salade bergére. Perfect. And for a pittance. Of course you don't come to Carcassonne for the food, but if you are hungry... More

This restaurant is in the medieval city which is crawling with tourists, and surrounded by tons of other restaurants. Some of the other restaurants looked more promising but one of my friends from Toulouse had recommended this one so we went for it anyway. And glad we did! The food was excellent, well cooked and very tasty, and large portions.... More

My friend and I fancied a quiet and leisurely meal in the old city after a day walking the ramparts. We sat outside which was sheltered and had atmosphere. We booked for 8 and were the only diners but after half past it began to fill up. We were brave and tried the hypocras as an aperitif (a spiced red... More

Straightforward French restaurant, not so touristy, a little off the main drag of Carcassonne.. has a nice prix fixe for lunch... the Cassoulet Cathare was excellent and a great match for the city...service pleasant.. price reasonable... simple, traditional, nice decor... not noisy (a big issue for us now that we are older)
