This small restaurant in Metz is a gem with very good food and a staff that know how to make you feel welcome. I was there for dinner after a long drive and felt both tired and hungry. I must say I felt revitalized after my visit. Definitely some place to return to.

Our group of 5 spent an enjoyable meal at this restaurant know for the high quality of its beef products. The owner and chef also owns the butcher shop next door; and he offers the best cuts of beef cut daily and prepared in the restaurant kitchen. Needless to say the filet mignon de boeuf was great, served with a... More

We had booked a pavement table whilst passing in the morning, without taking a name or any details our table was reserved although we were 30 late in arriving. The same guy remembered me, impressed, I was. The food was simply very good, fillet steak for me and veal for the boss, both arriving in good time and cooked to... More

The food was excellent quality but service could have been improved. We hadn't booked and asked at about 9.20 if it was too late but they let us in. Interesting menu but when we tried to order were told we couldn't have a starter- just a main course. This was apparently because of the time but the waiter did not... More

Visited both nights when in Metz. Liked it all (less the cow tartar the last night). Wouldn't change restaurant if I would stay more days there. Friendly and discreet service. Surprised it isn't one of the best restaurants in Metz here!

Without checking ratings, my wife and I dropped in here for dinner one evening and were pleasantly surprised by the food, ambience and service. My wife had the specialty brochette (sirloin) and I had the veal cordon bleu. We later checked the TA rating and found it to be much lower than we expected based on our experience. We would... More

Fantastic evening, while in France I just had to try the Frogs Legs, and they were deliciously cooked in a ravioli with a cream sauce, the fillet of beef was so tender and cooked to perfection.

We discovered the restaurant during a stop over in Metz on our way to Italy, initially didn't know whether to go in as I'm not fluent in French, but am I glad we did! The service from all the staff was first class, despite our lack of French and their lack of English we managed to order our meal. We... More

This restaurant carries a 3 generation long tradition in serving meat. We had brochettes. They did not meet the standards of a place specialized in meat. They were covered with bacon and the taste was good but the meat quality was not outstanding. It was not as soft as a restaurant focused on meat for generations should be serving. The... More

A restaurant run by three successive generations of butchers, L'Aloyau is a true find in Metz. The menu is traditional and celebrates the region and its gastronomy, as well as its close cultural connections to livestock trade. There, you'll find such culinary classics as tête de veau, rognons, escargot, fois gras, magret, various cuts of beef, etc. - all prepared... More
