Checking out restaurants, we liked the menu here and the emphasis on fresh, local food. We were able to get reservations on Saturday evening, and arrived just after the restaurant opened for dinner. The young woman serving us was helpful and efficient, and we were particularly charmed by the family atmosphere of the people getting the restaurant ready for the... More

Many years ago, a naval colleague who was serving in the Netherlands made an interesting observation. She suggested you can nearly always find a decent untouristy restaurant in Europe on the square of the principal church in town. La Ferme fits with that rule, just a short walk from the Angers Cathedral. Both inside and outside, the ambiance is relaxed... More

This restaurant is on a square near the cathedral. We booked on an extremely busy Saturday night in December, they accommodated the extra person we had with us. I had the fish with potato and butter sauce which was excellent, my husband had the steak which he said was ok. Our son had a vegetarian plate which he loved -... More

The four of us all took the evening menu. I had foie gras, which was suitably decadent. My wife had the cepes veloute, one of the lower calorie entrees. I had steak for my main course, beautifully cooked with a roquefort sauce, huge portion. Our friends had the fish, my wife the coq au vin. The sauce was beautiful and... More

We did visit the restaurant as soon as it opened at 7 to book a table for later. It wasn't full but busy. Lovely atmosphere and the food, wine and service was very good. We chose to eat indoors but there were seats available outdoors as well. Restaurant is tucked away by the side of the Catherdral.

Ate here while staying at the nearby Ibis hotel on the way north to the ferry. This was a good, busy restaurant. Had reserved in advance, which was as well because several people were turned away during our meal. The clientele was almost exclusively French which is probably a good sign. The menu was varied with more than adequate choice... More

We had a good evening meal in La Ferme. The restaurant is in a square behind the cathedral and offers inside or outside tables. The food was very good and the portions large. The confit was one of the best that I have had recently, well cooked but not over done. The service was very friendly and made for a... More

We booked on August 15th - never the easiest thing in France - and with a vegetarian, too - ditto. Not only was the special request to accommodate vegetarian requirements embraced enthusiastically, what they created off-menu was a showstopper! A huge bowl of salad, crudités, roasted vegetables, cheese, topped with a perfectly poached egg was more than enough to satisfy,... More

We were served very quickly and correctly. I chose as a first course the scallops with risotto. Scallops were OK but the risotto was overcooked. As a main course I chose the cod. When I choose fish in a restaurant, I expect fresh fish, not something the comes out of the freezer, which was clearly the case here. For me,... More

Having walked for what seemed an age, we stumbled on this unassuming restaurant with outdoor seating. We were met with a very warm welcome from a good looking French chap and they made a real effort to accommodate us with our wheelchair. It was late and we only only fancied a main course so I had their homemade beef burger... More
