We had a great lunch of oysters and a fish soup. Food quality and service were outstanding. 5 minute walk from the centre of the port. The owner speaks excellent English and made us feel very welcome. Thoroughly recommended.

friendly enough welcome, looks like inside not renovated since the 70's, some of the dished seemed ok, however all were served with the same mushy overcooked vegetables and soggy potatoes, my scallops were drowned in buttery sauce. Owner's wife was head waiter, incredibly rude. We were given menu, she explained the menu, then hovered at the table and after a... More

After enjoying the Rothchild villa, we decided to have lunch at Captain Cook based on great reviews in Trip Advisor. We were somewhat hesitant since no one was in the restaurant. However, Madame Nellie came out and greeted us and asked us to sit outside at a shaded table under the bougainvillea's. We started with the salmon ravioli in cheese... More

Good food at typical rural french restaurant. We had a very good steak, execellent fish soup. Thats the important and good rewiew part. Unfortunately the (expensive) wine was bad - it can happen; but it was refused to change - the taste was "flat", the colour typical for a bad wine. we chose then the house wine, which was good... I dined twice during a holiday stay in St.Jean at Captain Cook Restaurant and the food was delicious, full of flavour and reasonably priced. The interior is in a time capsule but charming as a result and the owner Nellie was gorgeous & welcoming - a totally unpretentious restaurant but a treasure. Fiona

ate there for dinner..out of 4 of us 2 people got sick. the inside is something out of a 1970s freak show...has not been redone probably since Charles de Gaulles was president of France. the owner is border line rude and the waiter is robotic.. food is subpar..fish soup was ok but full of unknown unnamed unidentifiable fish..service is slow...its... We went there as we live in the area and were always curious about the place. The ambiance need a total makeover and the service was slow. The food was ok but 2 people at our dinner table had digestive problems after the meal. On a good note the place is very pet friendly and the owner's wife loves dogs.

Central location adjacent to Hotel Voile d'Or. Very traditional French menu. Excellent food and value. Family owned and operated.

We stayed at Hotel La Voille d'Or for 6 nights in late August/early September 2016. We ate at Capitaine Cook 3 times and loved it very much. We were charmed by the owner and her staff and we adored the selection of fresh fish each night. We sat in the back garden and enjoyed the quiet ambiance, very good service... More

What can I say? Marvellous bisquebouille followed by strawberry soup. A lovely bottle of provencal rose and glorious sunshine. The four courses were probably too much but we battled bravely through! Starter of octopus salad was possibly the weakest in terms of flavour but frankly the meal was great and the service just lovely. Husband and wife team running a... More
