We decided to have a main and dessert. I had the pike quenelle in crayfish sauce and DH had mushroom ravioli. We were advised that it would take over 30 minutes to serve as the quenelle was baked fresh and did we want to order an entree but we said we were happy to wait. Wow! It was worth the... More

I know I can be overexcited describing the places have visited but.. It is really decent place to end up your day and get familiar with Lyonnaise cuisine. Very much tasty! Common starters and so fresh and tasty main course so you cannot stop. And what a wonderful experience when you are asking for something that is not on the... More

Exactly as expected. genuine food, genuine service. Nothing fancy. Just nice food from Lyon. Especially enjoyed the terrine, boudin noir and quenelle ( a must!!). Loved. Very simple. Friendly staff. Decent wine list.

We were looking for some good quality lyonnaise food and this place did not disappoint. It is a good size restaurant (not too large to lose the intimate feel but big enough to hold the small group if you book). The food is reasonable in price . They have an English version of menu so don't worry. We had a... More

We arrived at this restaurant with no reservation at around 9pm on a Friday evening, having tried a couple of others and not been able to find a table as there were 8 of us. First reaction was that they were full but then the head waiter suggested their private room at the back. The evening just went from strength... More

I was back at Poêlon d'or in November 2014. The restaurant is a 10-minute walk from Bellecour. This is my favorite place went I feel like having a proper Lyon meal. One of the highlights of the restaurant is the Quenelle. The restaurant is one of the few places left where the Quenelles are made from raw ingredients, and not... More

Great quality/price ratio. Nice bistro ambiance. Glad we made reservation as it was full. Duck liver souffle floating in fresh tomato coulis with lentil salad and a perfectly roasted chicken were excellent choices for only 16E. Parking was difficult. Take rapid transit if possible. Not hard to find even to total strangers like us. L

We went to this restaurant on Friday night with no reservation, as a local had told us that the restaurant we had booked was no good, and he thought that this was a Lyon institution not to be missed! It was packed at 9pm, and we were lucky enough to be found a table by a very charming member of... More

We went there for lunch having been recommended the place by a local. Were lucky to get a seat without reservation and expectations were high. We ordered the blood sausages (I chickened out of eating the head of veal) and veal kidneys. We purposely went with dishes that were specialities of the region and not the usual brasserie steak frites... More
