Location: close to Alte Brucke Atmosphere: rustic typical German tavern. Service: fast and efficient Food: local home cooked food. Unpretentious and good. If you visit in may then try the fresh white asparagus with sauce hollandaise.

Stayed here for two nights. Easy enough to get to and find via public transport. Entrance is through the main restaurant during the day and side Entrance at night. Downstairs in he restaurant is very charming, great decor with lots of great pictures. Upstairs is very bland and a contrast to below. That said room was clean. It was not... More

We were in Heidelberg looking for a fresh German cuisine which wasn't just bratties and dumplings. A couple we met recomended this place and I was attracted to the asparugus and opportunity to eat herring. The interior of the restaurant is busy, bucolic displays of greenery swags, bunches of grapes, and old musical instruments combined to make interesting over-table lights.... More

Tourist trap! I love traditional German food. For me food doesnt always have to be fancy or served beautifully as long as it tastes nice. But this place serves greyish, mushy food with sauces that are so gloppy there ought to be gelatine or something in it! You can eat it if you have to, but I wouldnt recommend it!

as soon as we stepped into the restaurant, the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and took us to the table. Though they don't have English menu, the waiter introduced their cuisine pretty patiently. The atmosphere is very relax when we are enjoying our dinner. I strongly recommend their pork shank and ravioli, they tested very traditional and the flavor... More

Very solid and reasonable local/German cousine. Even great service and care to one time visitors, beyond expectations. I think family run and established service team, which is visible overall and in the details. Once they even delivered a freshly made plate as the dish was getting cold on the table as my colleague wasn't at the table. That's why i... More

This is an old restaurant right in the heart of Heidelberg. The food is really tasty (German traditional) and they have a good wine selection as well. The place is nice and cozy (rather quite). They have two very nice tables at the windows (worth reserving in advance).

On holiday in Germany we visited this restaurant on our second last night and I've got to admit that the Schnitzel with cheese sauce and sliced potatoes was the tastiest I've had to date. Good wine and beer selection and reasonable prices too!
