The menu has a wide selection of liver, kidney dishes that often are avoided by the crowd pleasing tourist places. We tried the duck liver with chantrelles, which was good. The "surhaxe" was very well cooked. The best bavarian food we had in Munich. Service was friendly, although a bit slow.

The restaurant is situated just off the Viktualienmarkt, and was originally own by the actor Sedlmayr. Serves Paulaner beer and you may have to wait to be seated and will most certainly share a table with other guests. Every seat at every table is continuously in use. Daily menu and some old favourites. Something for everybody. Should be high on... More

I was attracted by this restaurant because inside we had just german so i won't avoid tourist restaurant. The food is good (not great but good) and you can plunge in really bavarian style.

The service was okay and the food good, but I think weissbrau is a much better restaurant. But, it is much quieter here and more home like. I liked trying a new spot and would go back again.

The Hofbrauhaus is an institution, but Beim Sedlmayr is a local place frequented by Muncheners for solid, reasonably priced bavarian food. The waitresses speak limited English, and are clearly having a good time with regulars. The Paulaner beer is great. Note: the English menu is more limited than the one in German, and if you get there late, they will... More

Went with a collection of business colleagues and had an excellent meal. Weissbeer was good (should be in Munich) as was the food. Service was excellent

This is a very traditional Bavarian eatery and I was genuinely excited to try it. Unfortunately the waitresses were visibly annoyed that we could speak little German and huffed and puffed their way throughout our visit. It was busy and we were seated on a table with a solo German gentleman from Frankfurt who confirmed our suspicion that the staff... More

People have been telling me that the food here is just great. Well, the Sauerbraten was ok, the accompanying sauce did not taste homemade. For the price, it could have been better. My girl-friend's Schweinebraten was better.

Always when I spend some days in Munich, I seek out Beim Sedlmayr, my favorite local restaurant. Excellent fare, a waitress will seat you at a table with some local patrons, service is fast, food is outstanding, great Paulaner beers. Drawback: the restaurant only accepts European Debit cards and cash.

Thank Wolfgang H
