We were tired from a walking tour of old Town and the press of people at the Markt, we were looking for a place to have a late lunch that wasn't crowded. Just off the main pedestrian way, we spotted a low door with a couple of small signs for the Keller. Down a long set of stairs and low... More

A lovely surprise find for our dinner tonight! We loved the middle-ages atmosphere of the Monchshof! With its stone-vaulted cellar, knight's suit of armour and it still felt cozy. We (2 of us) enjoyed the Schweinspiess with bacon and roschti as well as the smoked salmon dish with plenty of salad and roschti. A beautiful Apfelstrudel for dessert topped off a... More

You start by going down a low roof set of stairs. The selection of food is unbelievable. I had escargot for an appetizer and venison for my main meal. Both were fantastic.

A very good restaurant tucked away in a cellar. Food is first-rate, portions substantial, beer and wine list very nice, service professional and multilingual. This was recommended by a local who said she goes there with her relatives for special occasions. After dining there we can see why. Will definitely return when in Nurnberg.

This place is VERY tucked away even though it's near a busy pedestrian center. Take the trip down the long stairs to the restaurant and you will have a dining experience not to be missed. The food is fresh and varies by season. The drinks are varied and not to be missed. All seven of us ate here on our... More

Another great tip from Tripadvisor. This restaurant is in the oldest building that survived the bombings in WWII. It is a steep climb into the cellar ( watch your head)- it is amazing down there- BUT if you can't get down the stairs they do have tables set up in the platz so you won't have to miss the amazing... What an amazing and fun location! Take the chance and descend into the basement for an intimate dining experience! For privacy see if you can get the booth under the stairs.

This was by far one of the best places we ate! The service , the atmosphere , the food everything was awesome! The stairs down to the restaurant are very cool, the building was one of the few left remaining (it's underground) after the war.

We wanted a german non-touristy restaurant. Our friends recommended this restaurant. We were not disappointed. It is not wheelchair accessible because there are very steep steps to enter the restaurant. You also have to watch your head as you go down the steps. Once down in the restaurant, there are just a handful of tables in what appears to be... More

This is a great restaurant. The food , the atmosphere, and the staff are excellent. Not a huge menu, but everything is fresh and local. Very interesting setting. Very helpful and entertaining servers.
