What an amazing experience this was. We literally stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant which is in a side alley. At first, we thought we were intruding on someone's home because of the homey, intimate atmosphere, but there was another couple eating so we went in. Franco, Franziska, and Mario made us quite welcome. As we didn't speak German or Italian, Mario was our main interaction as his English is quite good. He explained that the restaurant is one with a set menu based on what they have available fresh and a set price. We were game so we were shown a table, and the candle was lit. I have to say, that Franco coming to our table to explain the evenings menu was very enjoyable and you could tell the pride he has in their Osteria. We selected our wines to which Mario said he would bring us a "beautiful glass"...boy did he ever; no small delicate pour here...it was how we would have poured a glass at home. We were served a pasta dish for starters in a green sauce (amazing). There were 3 choices for a main. My husband had the filet mignon, and I had lobster, they were both very well prepared and extremely tasty. For dessert there was Tiramisu. I am not usually a fan of Tiramisu, but if I could get it made like this, I would eat it every night. It was absolutely wonderful. At the end of the meal I asked if we could get a picture with them, and they brought us into the kitchen for a great pic. As we were eating, the restaurant started to fill up and was essentially full by the time we left. A couple of things to keep in mind if you go here: 1) it is a set menu so don't expect to have more that 2-3 choices for a main and 2 for dessert; it seems that the starter is a pasta dish. 2) The price is set as a 3-course meal, but very reasonable for this amazing dinner; 3) it's probably best to make reservations if possible as it is a small and intimate restaurant. We were early which allowed us to have a walk-in table, and it was during the slow season; 4) If you only speak English, expect to use your translator app or utilize a lot of hand gestures; 5) Lastly, expect to be treated like a friend as they are very attentive and friendly. This is the first place we will go if we make it back to Nuremburg someday. Thank you Franco, Franziska, and Mario; you made our stay very inviting and yummy.

The restaurant is the perfect setting for dates, business dinners or an evening with friends. We had an appointment on Valentine's Day with a larger group of friends. We knew right away that we didn't want to spend this evening in any other place. Reservation was easy and fast. We were all a little late due to traffic jams, for that the Bruno family had full understanding. We were lovingly welcomed with a Sarti spray. The arrangement for 10 people was covered with perfection. Tablecloths, cloth napkins, shiny cutlery, clean glasses and shimmering candles. A dream. We were advised on the daily offer. Chef Franco has responded to every single request. Whether intolerances or preferences were no problem. Tartar, pasta, seafood and steak – the menu was simply delicious and tasteful a 12 out of 10! It's a family gastronomy and you become aware of it every bite of food. It was always ensured that everything met our wishes. In this sense, a huge thank you to Franco, his wife Franziska and to Mario. ♥️

“La Dolce Vita in perfection! If a restaurant deserves the term “Italian way of life”, it’s here! As soon as you enter, you feel like you’re in a charming but completely crowded nonna shop in Rome – without the excessive tourist prices. The pasta? A poem! When the chef says “al dente”, he also means “al dente” – just as it should be. Sauces that sparkle with passion and transport the tongue to seventh heaven. The service is as if the waiters were personally concerned that you couldn't be better. Not only do they bring your food, they bring a slice of Italian joie de vivre to your table. It’s not easy to serve – it’s a celebration! The wine? Mamma mia! The wine list is like a little adventure through the best growing regions of Italy. From the fruity Chianti to the profound Barolo – here every sip becomes a feast. And the atmosphere – just like in an Italian film! Every visit feels like a little break from everyday life, as if you are currently on an endless summer holiday. Conclusion: Here you get not only food, but pure Italian passion on the plate. An absolute must for anyone who appreciates good food and genuine tradition. Grazie mille! Franco & Famiglia - tia Amo

Due to many good reviews, we were looking forward to an evening at una alta in Nuremberg. Despite calling several times, we did not get a reservation. When we arrived at the Park Plaza on Friday May 10th, 2024, I tried again in person and hey presto, we got a reservation for Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. We were there on time and were finished by 7:30 p.m.; a 3-course meal, all freshly cooked for €65 in an hour. We are happy to pay this price for good quality. However, the chef was in love. Too much salt on course 1. For course 2, the salmon and lobster tail were probably prepared and then kept warm, so they were too well done and not very soft and glassy, as we would have expected. The grand dessert, as it was announced to us, consisted of a cream-filled pastry with honey. Unfortunately, we did not take any photos because the owner was already very annoyed with us after our criticism. In our experience, this restaurant is overrated. Perhaps other guests have had better experiences.

Due to the good reviews we went to eat there with friends who are also connoisseurs of good cuisine and were very disappointed. The excessively high prices would have been tolerable if the food had come close to meeting expectations. The chef is obviously very limited in the choice of dishes he cooks. The very small choice of a maximum of 3-4 dishes does not have to mean anything bad, so far as so good. But that there was a tomato-lemon sauce for the appetizer (ravioli) and a white (cream) lemon sauce for the fish dish, we were still d’accord (notwithstanding the fact that it was not an isolated taste judgement of the four of us, that it was unfortunately far too sour even for a lemon sauce 😑. But when the main course - beef fillet - was then drowned again with the same white and completely acidified lemon sauce, we tentatively tried to make our incomprehension known. The service responded absolutely puppy, replied the sauce had to be like this and fit perfectly with the meat dish, turned around and was unkind to us the rest of the evening. The only thing that can be mentioned positively is that the quality of the goods is good, so fish and meat were fresh. If chef and service were still accessible to broaden your culinary horizons, potential would certainly be conceivable. Otherwise, it is probably better to eat a pizza there. We didn’t try these, but you can’t go wrong if you replace the lemon sauce with tomatoes.

Very friendly and familiar welcome, interesting audience and delicious food. Tuna that was overcooked on the first attempt was replaced quickly and without any problems. Absolutely reasonable value for money at €75 per person for 3 courses including wine and water. Grazie Mille.

I can't put into words how excited we are about this Italian restaurant! We were greeted warmly when we came in. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming that we immediately felt comfortable. The food? Just a dream! The best pasta, lobster and fillet I've ever eaten. My partner still raves about his fillet. Everything was perfectly tasted and served with so much love.

There is only a daily menu where you can choose between fish and meat. Before that, there was "Sicilian spaghetti" as a starter or, as we were told, "pasta with Toni". For the main course, we decided against the lobster and opted for the Angus steak with a fantastic sauce that had a touch of lemongrass. Finally, tiramisu was served as a dessert. Every dish had a special touch, the atmosphere was very cozy and familiar, the service was charming and humorous. By no means cheap but fair value for money.

It is a very fine, authentic and very nice Italian restaurant. If you want to feel Italy and taste the love in the food, this restaurant is the right place for you. The fine mozzarella with truffles, pasta, dessert, Italian wine and champagne were simply delicious. The Angus fillet was as soft as butter. No wish goes unfulfilled with Franco and his family. We were treated warmly and attentively. An absolute MUST if you like fine Italian cuisine in a great and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is lovingly decorated and you immediately feel like you are in Italy.🇮🇹♥️

I can highly recommend Franco , the little Italian in the heart of Nuremberg! Every time we are there , we are amazed by the great atmosphere and friendly, attentive service. The love with which the dishes are prepared can be felt in every bite. You immediately notice that fresh produce is used here, and this makes the food a real experience for the palate . Whether for a romantic dinner or a social gathering with friends - Franco is always the right choice. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

We celebrated my wife's birthday with friends and it was just wonderful! From start to finish, the evening was perfectly organized, and the food was a real treat. We started with a special appetizer that pampered our taste buds. The main course, which included either lobster or fillet – a delight – was equally impressive. At the end there was a wonderful dessert that perfectly rounded off the evening. Special praise goes to the boss Franco, who has already tried very hard for us in advance and made sure that the evening was unforgettable. His hospitality and commitment were outstanding and contributed significantly to our wonderful experience. The service was also first-class – attentive, friendly and read every wish from our eyes. We felt completely comfortable and welcome. We can highly recommend the “C’era Una Volta” and are already looking forward to our next visit!
