Very good quality: we visited twice while on holiday in Berlin and we loved it, the food is great (tasty schnitzel, delicious ox cheek), there is a good selection of local wines and the staff is very nice - the waiter that served us was...super friendly and made our dinners special. Nice desserts too!More

Probably the nicest and friendliest restaurants we have ever been too! Lovely food and excellent service. Very reasonably priced and all traditional German food. The ambience is charming and everything just feels so welcoming and relaxed.

Had a nice dinner on Saturday evening. Really tasty food and a nice atmosphere as well as good service. Also they accommodated 6 people without a booking which was appreciated

Nice place , wonderful asparagus. Cooked to perfection with a mice hollandaise. The ham very nice! The premises a bit boring, a very oblong place not very cosy.

This was the second time we paid a visit to 38, the last time being approx 18 months ago. Happy to say that the vibe of this place is still here. Friendly service and nice food (try the wienerschnitzel!) are what makes 38 worth coming...back to.More

We booked for a special event and were a big group (24). Celebrating our friends future wedding. The food was very good and the place is beautiful. The staff however, was extremely cold and not very helpful. The minute we had passed the "3 hours...package" that was it no more service nothing. People were happy to pay for more drinks but were completely shut down by the staff. I honestly wouldn't go back because of it. Recommend it for a couple or a small group but don't go as a big group.More

Would definitely recommend! As a traveller (alone), I had a good time here. The staff was kind and they’re also really good at their job: letting me taste wine, asking if i wanted a break between pre-dish and main dish. The food was good; tasteful...and varied. I felt really welcome, thanks for a good last diner before leaving Berlin.More

Nice take on the german classic cuisine, few items on the menu, but the once we tried were really good. The ox cheek was amazing. Also the place was really tasteful.

At first, after looking at the photos, we thought this restaurant would be a great place to go get dinner. But, when we got there, even before entering into the restaurant, we got an unpleasant feeling. When we entered into the building there was a...very strong perfume smell everywhere. The restaurant was not that busy at all, so we were seated right away. The ambiance is ok. The music was very loud. The menu is quite limited. The prices are outrageous for what one gets. I had the tartar and to my great disappointment it was of very poor quality. The tartare looked and tasted like ground meat and the portion was miniature! My husband had salmon (raw inside!) with something indefinable on the side... I would definitely not recommend this place and would not be going back.More

Good find as the last night on our trip and a contrast to the more on the go meals. My daughter and I - from the winter menu - had a Chestnut soup and duck and pomegranate starter. The soup particularly was very good. My...daughter had a duck main which looked a good plate, and I had cod. By comparison, my dish looked a bit light though it was very nice. The staff were very amenable and the wine was good. We would have liked dessert and coffee, but at some point, we seemed to become invisible - maybe everyone was too busy? We waited too long and decided to leave instead which slightly spoilt an otherwise lovely meal.More

Really enjoyed my meal there but small details stop me from giving 5 stars. The duck confit on pea puree was a delicious starter with small crunchy pieces of skin giving a wonderful textural contrast. A well designed very tasty dish although I would have...liked the puree to have been a little warmer. Ox cheek dish wss let down a bit by an under seasoned brown sauce that had little taste - not what you would expect from using the liquid from the braising. Meat itself and accompaniments were well cooked. Good selection of wines by the bottle and by glass. Dining area is modern with clean lines while retaining warmth and comfort. The chefs can be seen at work at a semi open area at the rear. Overall, enjoyed my meal but at this pretty high price point, I felt the missteps really let them down. Without those minor details, definitely 5 star, but there is no way to give 4.5 stars.More

Overall, a really wonderful restaurant, ruined by one particularly rude waiter. Visiting Berlin on a city break and looking for somewhere as more of a “date night” setting. This place certainly matched this as it was beautiful, with exquisite food and fabulous wine, but the...service (from one waiter in particular) was appalling. When we arrived, around 18:10, it was practically empty, and we were told there were no tables (genuinely, nearly empty). When we asked again, the waiter then “conceded” and seated us. From then on, everything from him was sloppy, rushed, and he was quite rude. Admittedly, we were in jeans, and there were other people in smarter outfits, but the waiter himself was in extremely scruffy orange trainers. Everything from him was extremely rushed and it was clear we were being hurried along - from the way he was looking at us, to pulling the dessert menu off the table without even asking if we wanted anything. The waitress however, was a delight. She was welcoming, always smiling, and nothing was too much trouble - how service should have been. We both ordered the salmon ravioli and it was absolutely exquisite. Just don’t expect all the service to match the quality of the food.More
