Good reviews sometimes cause great disappointment. The was not bad, but I expected more. The service wasn't perfect also.

If you haven't been there you didn't miss anything. A huge restaurant located underneath round arches of the train station Friedrichstraße in Mitte. You sit under wonderful ceiling painting in a loud atmosphere and the food did not live up to the expectations raised by other reviewers. Service was o.k., but the bar crew didn't care about the telephone whose... More

We went to the 12 Apostel (Die Zwölf Apostel) restaurant after reading all the great tripadvisor reviews. I also like old architecture and beautifully styled interiors, so I was excited about our meal there. When we got there, all the lights were turned off inside so, even though I could tell the beautiful paintings on the walls I had seen... More

Not everyone would like a pizza place with trains rattling overhead and those extremely efficient and speedy trams going past, but my husband loved it, having given him the choice of this or an expensive Asian fusian restaurant. We arrived there around 6.30 p.m. in pouring rain to a quiet restaurant. We had the red wine i.e. red, white wine... More

The restaurant serves very good pizzas and has a nice warm friendly atmosphere throughout the day. Be warned that the pizzas have a great pizza base but the toppings are a little different to those found in Italy or Provence. But still good.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
