Great atmosphere, warm and cosy, made you feel a real part of local Berliner life. The traditional food was great, prompt service from a very helpful and friendly waiter. In fact we enjoyed it so much, we decided to see if we could book a table for the following evening, sadly it was already fully booked. We will definitely return... More

Staying in gin the Savignyplatz area my wife and I went to Dick Wirtin based on TripAdviser reviews and were not disappointed. Friendly efficient staff made sure we were seated and quickly served with drinks and food. I had the Prussian meatballs in cream me caper sauce which were delicious. My wife had the spaetzell with a salad which she... More

A typical German "Kneipe" with German food and German beer. Nice atmosphere. Popular among locals" but also large amount of tourist. Quick service apart from the beer which always takes long time in Germany

Dicke Wirtin was a recommendation from a native Berliner who said it's the place locals go to for good beer and comfort food The place was packed with the after work crowd stopping in for drinks or a bite with friends. Fortunately we had a reservation. It's not very large or maybe the crowd made it seem small but the... More

As we wanted to taste the local food, the receptionist from our nearby located (5-10 minutes on foot) Berlin Savoy Hotel advised us to visit this restaurant. And young lady made a very good choice for us. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere of the old times. The food is super tasty and is being served in large portions.

We visited this restaurant as a recommendation of the concierge. He had booked us a table as it is a very small popular pub come restaurant . A place we're university students and locals eat. A real ambience to the place. The food choice is not massive, when it came out the food did not look fab, but the taste... More

After 4 weeks of traveling across Europe, this was probably the best place we ate, granted it was very busy, but the schnitzel was huge and to die for! I'll definitely go back if I am ever in Berlin again.

Staying at the nearby Indiglo hotel, wife and I (I'm German-speaking) inquired of some locals for typically "Berlinerische " cuisine and I found it here.. While staff was rude, we enjoyed our dinner at Die Dicke Wirtin (the fat landlady) nonetheless. It's right on the Savignyplatz, near our hotel, but locals, not tourists, had mostly occupied the place. We were OK... More

We just had some drinks in here but the place was absolutely mobbed with diners. The food looked to be traditional sausages or meat type of dishes. It looked really good but we couldn't get a table without a reservation. We had a couple of beers and the service was good and the locals were friendly. Also very reasonably priced... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
