The location is stunning and the food they are producing is really alright. Unfortunately they were totally understaffed and the lovely waiters really did their best to get the job done. They surely should have planned better for a sunny afternoon in Berlin by adding one or two waiters. Nevertheless super professional and absolutely friendly. Will try it again.

Suitable for family and friends with a good selection of food and drinks. Seating is available inside and outside too. Outside is perfect for swan, bird and turtle spotting. Great for a lazy day or quick stop.

My son told me this is a good spot for lunch. I went on a Sunday when it wasn't too busy and seats were available. You can sit on the grass too if you like. A bottle of fizz water was about 5 Euros. A lot compared to the shops. Nice little area though.

When you follow the Berlin Wall walk in this area you walk along the old ditch of a canal built in the 1920/30s? to connect the Land Canal with the River Spree. The canal never took off and lay in disrepair until relatively recently when the wall fell. Now there is a fine lake where the basin must have been... More

We were originally trying to get to Henne's for fried chicken, but they were closed. Due to forgetting everything is the other way around (left/right hand side etc) to what we're normally used to, we went the wrong way and ended up having to walking back. Along the way we came upon this little park, and decided that we'd come... More

An outdoor café at the border of an astonishing little lake in the centre of town, part of a narrow strip of park that stretches out at the other side. High flats are partly hidden from view by trees and shrubs. The wind rustles through the reed, fountains clatter, ducks quack, and the sun shines. Dolce far niente. You'd eat... More

I've been to this cafe a number of times. It is a short walk from the bustle of Oranienplatz. The cafe is located on a lake with ducks and tortoises. It has a surprisingly good brunch menu and is great for lazy meetings with friends. Service is not fast but you can spend the time looking at the wonderful view.

What a place! Definately worth a visit if you are in the area. The cafe overlooks a lake and park where the staff and service is wonderful. We chose toasted sandwiches, coffee and beer and with the sun shining and clientele charming I would return at any chance!

A small rescue island amongst the busy streets of berlin. Locals and tourists come here. Standard service, good for a coffee or cold drink in between.

Cool and trendy place for a great coffee break by the water. It feels very peaceful and allows to escape the city for a while. The decor is hip and the staff is nice, yet tables and seat could be a little cleaner.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
