Old-fashioned 'look', but worked well. Had a wonderful morning coffee and cherry cake here on one day, and a heartwarming, healthy soup another day. Service was friendly. Cafe was lovely and warm, and there was no hurry about moving on when finished.

It is real nice spot beside the river. Unfortunately the service is very poor. It was almost impossible to get served. We sat down and it took over 10 min to even get noticed by the waitress. We’ve ordered 2 beers and after another 10 min the same waitress came again to ask us for our order. After another 30... More

We ordered two Cappuccini, one was black because of lack of milk, the other one was floated with milk like a caffe latte - both shared the fate of not having anything similar to a cappuccino foam. We ate a poppy seed cake, which was old and therefore dry at the margins, a medium sweet mass of sugar and flour... More

Breakfast was nice and simple. Service was to the point and had no fluff despite being attached/a part of a hotel. Would recommend it for food to fill your belly but it is not fancy. We had the Vienna extra breakfast, bread basket was simple (I've had more delicious bread at other cafes in Germany), spread was decent for the... More

Breakfast served until 2PM - essential for Berlin Night-Life :) Buffet is a bit too expensive for 2 people, but you can order a breakfast with lots of options. Wifi is free. Service is adorable. Will visit on our next trip!

A real nice spot beside the river. Unfortunately the service was very poor. It was almost impossible to get served and when you did you had to wait a very long time. A lot of customers simply got up and left before their drinks arrived as it took way too long.

The buzz was great on the two days I visited. The river flows past itch the hum of boats, hole trams and cars cross the bridge. Really enjoyed the food, which was reasonably priced. The service can be a little relax but for me and first time in Berlin I was happy to kick back and go with it.

We are here right now, just had coffee and breakfast. Very nice, fast service, pleasant staff. We had cappuccino and croissants which did us fine. The croissant wasn't too oily and tasted great.

We had lunch here, and liked it! I had the knödel (dumpling) and my friend the Caesar salad. For dessert we had pancake with plum sauce and ice-cream and small dumplings with cheese and apricot. All very good. In the summer the best tables are by the river Spree. Easy to find, just over the bridge from the S/U-bahn station... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
