The selection of cakes and pastries on offer was absolutely incredible, just what was required for the first morning of our trip to Berlin.

We were staying in a nearby hotel, but unwilling to pay hotel prices for breakfast, so tried Melis instead. Very glad we did, and ended up using them every day. Menu of fixed breakfasts, which are typical for a Berlin establishment, and also a counter with pastries and sandwiches. Everything we tried was good value, and fresh. Fresh Orange Juice... More

A nice quiet place for breakfast. Fresh pastries, maybe not that warm if you go for breakfast close to midday. Coffee was better than you can find in most places. Clean place and free wi-fi. You can also find to buy alcoholic or soft drinks and tobacco. I will probably visit this place for breakfast again.

Great cafe for breakfast. Prices really good and the pastries were lovely. A far better choice then a hotel breakfast buffet.

This cafe was opposite a hotel we were staying in & offered great value in breakfast options. There were a few breakfast options to choose from. English menu available too. Sitting outside in the sunshine having coffee & crossaints was a great start to the day. Staff were lovely & helpful.

nicely situated bakery serving freshly made sandwiches and pastries. Was staying in nearby Leonardo Royal Hotel and visited here for breakfast daily as it was 1/3 of the price of hotel breakfast and much. Iver too.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
