We had a great dinner here with excellent food, good service and a relaxed atmosphere. Not pretentious and the food, and especially the wine, is very fairly priced.

Food was very yummy. The onion soup had an interesting twist with blue cheese. The rib eye was a bit chewy for my taste. The escargot could've been soak more in butter but still tasty. The creme brûlée was my favorite!! Customer service is great. I recommend making reservations.

We arrived at six thirty and they had reservations for all tables. They were happy to seat ius at a small bar to serve us dinner. We chose a Côte du Rhone to drink and it was very nice and not priced in the stratosphere. I started with the soup which was an unlikely combination of leeks and beets. It... More

Went for dinner with girlfriend and family in laws. We loved the restaurant interior design, but where shocked by the service. They where clearly understaffed. Food was very nice, good meat and good wine. But when ordering a secondary bottle we got the same wine but of a different year, which is fine if told before ordering as the taste... More

A wet Saturday night in Berlin, near the Natural History Museum and Invalidestrasse and no dinner reservations. The reception staff at the i31 Hotel suggested La Bonne Franquette, so we thought we would chance it. We were met in the restaurant by the host/server/owner? and I explained our predicament. Unfortunately they were full, but if we didn’t mind a high... More

Fortunately, we got the last table last night. We ate three courses and the food was excellent. The wines were very good too and fitted well with the food. It is a small restaurant with personal service. If you like modern French food, don't miss this.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the staff at our hotel. We arrived early, which was fortunate as we did not have a booking and the restaurant and it quickly filled with locals. Fantastic photographs adorn the walls and the rustic interior give this restaurant a quirky appeal. The staff were friendly and helpful and service was quick. For... More

We were travelling as tourists in Berlin. It happened to be my birthday. We had not checked out any of the local restaurants on Tripadvisor/any other site and after wandering around for 20 minutes absolutely famished we happened to come across Brasserie La Bonne Franquette. Actually thought it was a wine bar from the outlook. We had a very nice... More

The restaurant is very small and looks like a family business. It is run by a young friendly couple and they speak great English. The menu is short with 5-6 different options as starters and the same variety for main dishes and desserts. There are not that many options but the quality is very good. In particular, I liked very... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
