Visited this place with my wife during a weekend trip in a cold and wet November evening. Located close to our hotel (Radisson Blu) it suited us well not walking too far in the rain. Warm and nice interiour and very good food in typcal German/large portions. Pricewise very acceptable, main course 10-18€. A bottle of French Red at 17€.... More

Went there on a cold Berlin afternoon. Warm and welcoming. English is spoken and there is an English version of the menu. Mainly tourists there when I visited and was very popular. Good value and good range of food - portions are large but tasty. No problem being served 'late lunch/early dinner'!

We were there twice while this past weekend. We tried the green local beer - Berliner Kindler Weise - so so so sweet - worth trying, but nothing more :P Unless you like sweet beer...other beers - normal beers - very good :) Also the food is good - the gulash soup, the potato gulash, farmer's breakfast (you can have... Very good place, tables and chairs are in wood like the typical German style. Food very nice, big plate and the service is very quick! Staff very friendly and helpful. Good stop after long morning walk!

Very homely, cosy restaurant between the cathedral and Alexander Platz. We had Eisbein (Schweinshaxe) - 1 portion was enough for 2. It wasn't gourmet cuisine, but delicious nonetheless.

Overlooking the church on Alexanderplatz, Kartoffelhaus was a brilliant spot for lunch. We had a choice of tables inside or out and chose to sit outside in the sun. We can highly recommend both the food and the service here. The Currywurst was very reasonably priced and delicious. Well worth a stop on your journey .

From the moment we walked in the door with our two young children, the guy who 'greeted' us and ended up being our 'server' was rude and careless. Barely acknowledging us, responding like it's an inconvenience when asked about the beer selection and drinks for children - I don't think he could have spent less time in the vicinity of... More

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
