We had just arrived in Berlin after travelling from Copenhagen by train. After unpacking we went out for a wander around Alexanderplatz and found ourselves in the Galeria department store. Much to our surprise there was an Asian restaurant in the store. Having looked at the menu we decide to try the food there, and what a good choice that... More

This restaurant is situated on the ground floor of the galleria department store, we were very impressed with how tasty the food was and I asked for peanut butter sauce instead of sweet and sour and the chef did not have any but he went to the delicatessen counter and bought some and warmed it up and served it personally... Alexanderplatz was our first stop as we arrived in Berlin! We came to run the marathon 2 days later! As we walked into Galeria to grab some fruit and a couple of things we noticed the little two-in-one restaurant at the back! well..what can I say! Surprised and totally unexpected we ended up eating the best Curry Haenchen and Lachsfillet... More

This restaurant is actually two - you can order from an Asian or Italian menu and get billed separately for both. This is very practical if part of the group wants sushi and part pizza. Thirdly you can order dessert which is provided by the Kaufhof delicatessen department next to the restaurant. We visited this restaurant not once or twice... More

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
