This was my local restaurant when stayed in Kreuzberg. The owners are lovely, food is delicious and Ouzo even better. The price isn't bad at all. Miss this place, definitely coming back as soon as possible! Xx

Eat here for dinner with friends, nice atmosphere and service excellent, I'm no expert on Greek food, I thought it was average, but what would I know, I probably won't be back but enjoyed our evening and the waiter was excellent

As regular visitors to Greece and Cyprus for over 25 years we tend not to eat at Greek restaurants in other countries but the reviews for this one somehow dragged us to it. We weren't disappointed at all, it feels Greek as soon as you walk in, we shared Spanakopita and Feta Saganaki for starters with bread and tatziki, I... More

Not one of those Greek restaurants that are more Yugoslavirn/Balkan style but a place with real tradition Greek dishes, complemented with traditional Greek hospitality. Definitely a good recommendation if you look for good traditional Greek dishes at a reasonable price range

Whenever I come to Germany I always eat dinner at a greek restaurant at least one evening. First time at Taverna Athene. Probably not going back on my next visit, there are better greek restaurants in Berlin. As usual I had a "gyros teller". The meat contained a lot of fat and was reallly not that good. The ambience was... More

We shared the Platter Diomira for 2 persons as a family of 4 (with an additional Octopus starter) and it was heaps of quality food for us all. Attentive service and reasonable service made for a pleasant evening.

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
