We visited the Rutz Weinbar in January with friends. We booked online and the staff called on the day of the booking to check our reservation. We ate in the wine bar and the food was fantastic - try the black pudding! The wine water takes us through the wine menu, was extremely knowledge and recommended a fantastic sauvignon blanc... More

One of the best restaurants in the town, but prepare for a thick bill :-) The food is very surprising and absolutely delicious, the wine pairing was also great. But a dinner for two (6 and 8 courses) worth of 450 EUR is a bit overpriced.

This is one of the best restaurants I have visited - ever! The food is just great. We had the "Inspirationsmenu" with wine pairing. The service is also fantastic. Very relaxed and not so stiff even though it has got a Michelin star.

Rutz has a michelin restaurant upstairs and a wine bar downstairs. I ate downstairs. This place has good reasonable priced food on the menu. I had a glass of 2013 trocken Mosel that had was a bit unbalanced on the acid side to start with. Then I had a lovely little cucumber salat that was very delicate. With it I... More

We had originally tried to get into the 1st floor Michelin star restaurant but it was fully booked when we got around to looking a few days before our trip. We decided to check out the wine bar downstairs instead and we were not disappointed. The food was devine. The wine list is vast-over 1000 options but our waiter/sommelier Franco... More

I have been to the restaurant, not the winebar (they have different menus). The restaurant is really outstanding!!! The taste of the food is intense and not like in other restaurants of this category. I got bored from all the 100 little things on the plates of the star restaurants which have all a great taste by itself but somehow... More

First said - we visited the Rutz weinbar, not the Michelin star restaurant in second floor. We ate our last dinner in Berlin at this place. We wanted something informal, but still with an high end when it comes to food and wine. The place presents a gourmet like german menu, and the wine is mainly german. We ate a... More

My Husband and I ate here 2 nights in a row - 1 night at the michelin starred restaurant upstairs and the 2nd night at the more casual wine bar downstairs. Upstairs restaurant: Absolutely fantastic! There are 3 tasting menus to choose from. We chose the 8 course tasting menu and the waiter was very flexible to allow us to... More

A michelin star restaurant with Marco Muller one of the best chefs in germany.
From first impressions, our unimposing facade offers little of what lies within. From the moment you step inside, the RUTZ Restaurant opens up like an art gallery delivering a puristic rooms-within-rooms concept, Restaurant and Winebar. Elegant and yet simultaneously harmonious.
The RUTZ Restaurant is located on the first floor. Here you enjoy a modern laid back atmosphere amongst natural materials and an exclusive ambience of high-end hospitality.
Here you will find a perfect combination in every dish of flavor balance and creative inspiration.
Our Head Chef Marco Muller is dedicated to delivering naturally sourced ingredients of only the highest standard and variety. His creative and yet well-balanced cuisine focuses on originality, naturality and aromatics.

A great wine bar with a huge wine list. Our multi-award winning wine list offers over 850 unique bottlings with a primary focus on Riesling and German wines.
On behalf of Michelin Star chef Marco Muller, Head Sommelier, Restaurant Manager and the whole RUTZ Team, we look forward to hosting you soon.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
