Consistently good food both in the restaurant and in the wine bar area downstairs. The wine list, needless to say, is extensive and well priced. Slightly off the beaten track but worth tracking down.

We got a 2 person table right in front of the kitchen window on the 1st floor in the gourmet-area. Great spot! Delicious food, good wines.

We ordered a table in the downstairs restaurant and it was perfect. We got some great food and wine to match. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A bit expensive but still worth the money.

We made a dinner reservation in the upstairs restaurant. We chose the 6 course experience menu which, with the amuse bouche and other little touches are added, is more like 10-11 different tastes. The amount of food was perfect for us. The other option was to have the 8 or 10 courses. Each dish was delicious and the presentation impeccable.... More

We, a party of four, got a nice table in the Weinbar. The attendance was promt, friendly and very professional. We had the ox shoulder wich was very tender and wellcooked. As they are professionells in vine we got good rekommendations that accompanied our dishes. Note that the"Gourmet-department" on the 1st floor is much more expensive than in the Weinbar.... More

Food good, not amazing. Massively overpriced for what you get. Wines too young/restrictive. Were not given the wine menu, we're not asked what type of 'entree' drink. Would not recommend.

We heard about Weinbar Rutz from a friend before our trip. We decided to book a table in advance, and it was a good thing we did! The winebar, on the ground floor with a more expensive (Michelin-starred) restaurant on the upper floor, has limited seating capacity. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and treated well. Our waiter... More

We unfortunately landed too late in Berlin to eat dinner here, but the kind waiter let us in for a few drinks and some amazing cheese and accompaniments. Firstly the extensive wine menu is fantastic and the sommeliers knowledge is outstanding, without being overwhelming. Secondly the location is quite cool, in an arty part of the city meaning it isn't... More

We took the 4 course Surpise menu with wine pairing (90 Euro each) in the winebar. The first and second courses were excellent as well as the dessert, but the prices are too high.

This place didn't gave me the feeling you should have at a place like this. The food was good, but I expected more. The waiter knew a lot about the wines, we had some nice chats with him. The restaurant upstairs was empty when we arrived at 8 o'clock. Downstairs was full which gave us the feeling that we made... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
