We had dinner at Vino e Libri and really enjoyed it. Despite what other reviewers said we didn't have to wait very long. The food in my opinion was pretty good (I'm a native Italian so I can make an actual comparison) and the service too. In particular I found the waiter was super nice and pleased our request for... This is a great little Italian place - real Italian (I would expect nothing less around here. I had some really lovely fresh ravioli and the server suggested the perfect wine. I didn't have any but my neighbors were raving about their dessert.

My partner and I ate here twice during our most recent trip to Berlin, and both times we enjoyed good service and fantastic food. Highly recommended, and be sure to sit next to the cheese wheel if you can!

We had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant last night. The Grilled Calamari was a tender & tasty entree to start with. This went down really well with a Sardian Vermentino wine. We followed this with a Seafood Pasta dish and a delicious Spagetti which was cooked in a Parmessan Wheel which was flambe' with alchol & then had... More

Vino e Libri is a nicely decorated, cosy restaurant in the Scheunenviertel district of Berlin. Service very attentive and friendly, if somewhat distracted. Popular place, reservation recommended. The antipasti were tasty and actually tasted of Italy, fresh and colourful. All of us ate various pasta dishes that were good, one complained of the pasta being too salty. All in all... More

The avarage restaurant... typical service, food avarage and nothing much special. We ordered an appetizer (Fritto misto) and there was nothing special on it and only 1 shrimp. The fish was ok. Don´t see myself returning.

Vino e Libri was recommended by the Circus hotel where we stayed nearby. It was our 2nd choice (we couldn't get into Transit that was full) because my husband being italian we often get disappointed with italian restaurants abroad. At best they are usually very basic and often badly executed. this one is a true find : authentic, creative and... More

Vino e Libri was a very pleasant place from all the viewpoints: delicious food, cordial staff, very smooth service, quality-price level OK and cosy place! We just happened to pass it and decided to pop in early on a Sunday evening. We were lucky because soon after that local single customers and groups started to arrive and the restaurant was... More

We were staying around the corner from Vino e Libri and just wandered past and saw there was quite a crowd there one night, so we went in not sure if we were going to get a table but discovered the restaurant opened up to a larger area out the back. The service from the start was exceptional, the staff... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
