A busy, buzzing restaurant, but we luckily got a seat without a reservation. Decor pretty basic but felt like an authentic experience. All of us loved the food, and the beer is pretty decent too. A great experience would love to return.

There's a whole area of tables and benches in the middle of the garden and then you can choose from where to get you food and drinks! I just can imagine the atmosphere here on a summer night! Now we visited on a sunday lunch in early April, and it was quite empty.

If I was to choose a place in Berlin to just simply do nothing, relax and pass time, this place would be one of them. An open area filled with food and beverage stalls to satisfy any craving and thirst. Tables are available everywhere, whether you want to sit alone or share with someone else. A family friendly atmosphere and... More

We wanted to try some local food restaurant and this one was near our hotel. They messed up a couple of dishes, confused orders. The food is good, but not great. The portions are really generous: if you're not very hungry, don't order more than one. Their beers are nice, but I drank better ones. Worth a visit if there's... More

Made the effort to go during a recent trip to Berlin. It was highly rated by many on various websites so we thought we`d make the effort. However, the large (and very popular) beer garden was closed when we visited so we just had to make do with the inside bar / restaurant. It was a quiet night but the... More

Prater Garten was close to where I lived. Good beer, great atmosphere with interesting food. Efficient and friendly staff. It was my favorite place to grab a fresh beer.

Arrived early on a Friday without a booking and we were lucky to get a table. Really lively and friendly atmosphere with traditional German food (the ham was particularly good) and excellent beer. There was a really mixed clientele - we were there with our kids and felt quite comfortable, but there were also a lot of younger groups and... More

Rave! This is schnitzel and beer heaven in a casual and festive atmosphere. It's a great place to bring large groups of people and share plates. A strong sense of history. Friendly wait-staff. Reasonable prices.

Great atmosphere and good house-brewed beer. Service friendly and speedy. Busy, so worth booking which can be done on line. Usual Berlin food, but my duck was very nice. Caters well for families too.

Thank Andrew E

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
