My friends and I had a great time at the Hackethals restaurant. The food was great and the staff were very friendly. I really recommend it.

Me and seven friend went without reservation and quite mediocre expectations, after walking quite a bit we were even thinking we were lost. But, from the moment we arrived until we left we had the best experience during our four days stay in Berlin. I give my highest recommendation for this place. A must once on Berlin!

I have worked in restaurants for 7 years. When I say I have never had a more welcoming and home experience in my life, I mean it. I walked into this restaurant with a new friend craving authentic German cuisine. The blonde gentleman greeted us with the most genuine smile, and proceeded to seat us. When seated he asked us... Interesting place, a bit difficult to find. Pub is full of people from the opening time. Menu is written on a blackboard and it's only in german. But pleasant lady translates and explanes everything for you. The owner is arrogant and it a bit spoiled the whole atmospheare. Food tasty, but pricey. Generally everything was not bad.

I must say that the beer here is top notch and made in house! If you haven't had quality beer, come to this place! The pork knuckle dish is... More

When we walked in, we knew it was going to be good cause of how many people were in there. I was honestly a little afraid we wouldn't get a seat but glad we did. We were so incredibly pleased with the food. The service was great as well! The ambiance was lovely. I was not disappointed at all! I... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
