The concierge sent us here because we were looking for wienerschnitzel. He said it was the best in the area and I agree it was outstanding. What was terrific was we did not have to experience the usual German brightly lit restaurant with a weak wine list. Atmosphere was intimate, wines were terrific and waiter very knowledgeable. Outstanding evening

This is French dining at its best. Okay pricing. Good portions. Excellent quality. Be it for lunch, afternoon coffee (yes, they serve coffee and cake) or be it for dinner. I have been to Dressler's repreatedly and have NEVER been disappointed. It is just so sad that the snail-pace subway construction right in front of their nose will impede on... More

We came (my wife and myself) in morning hours, for a refreshment. Restaurant was totally empty and besides us there was one guy for whom I couldn't realize is he a good neighbor, owner, manager or a technical employee... anyhow, we have ordered coffee each and fresh orange juice each (5.50 EUR per glass, by the way). After we were... More

It is not easy to give a negative to a restaurant ,where the staff gives its best but the kitchen fails completely. Part of an already modest menu was not available. The soup had to be refused. The Wiener schnitzel was a Desaster . The desired dessert was also not available. The selected wine was OK.( here no kitchen interference...). What... More

One of the few places along Unter Der Linden which opens reasonably early (8AM) for breakfast. I ate there four mornings in a row. Ham and eggs +. Good alternative to the cost of the hotels near by.

The duck was tasty...which was recommended by the waitress! The atmosphere was old Berlin charm! Service was okay, took awhile to be greeted and serviced...understaffed?

We decided to have breakfast here on the second morning of our visit to Berlin, having been charged 32 Euros each (!) at the hotel where we were staying. This was a great decision. I tend to prefer a continental breakfast, so the Petit Dejeuner Paris was ideal for me, at around eight euros. My husband likes a cooked breakfast,... More

Eating at the Dressler made me feel like I was back in 1910, or 1928, or 1954, or whenever. The place is transcendent. This is what is must feel like to be a Berliner back "in the day". Atmosphere was nostalgic. But the best part was the food. The Dressler is the place where you take pictures of your food.... More

After several days of tourist dining, we wanted somewhere quieter with great food and great service. Dressler was recommended by the concierge at our hotel and it was just what we were looking for. It could not have been better. Highly recommended.

Great Sunday breakfast on the way to Brandenburg Gate. Superb scrambled egg with prawns, My wife chose the Berlin Breakfast with a great range of textures and tastes. Not a cheap restaurant, but wonderful food the crispest of linen and great service in beautifully designed restaurant, complete with most improbable amount of sunflowers and white lilies decorating tables and bar.... Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
