Reportedly the oldest bar in Berlin it has a more modern look on the outside but once through the door there is a host of character inside. Good staff recommended the best beer and added a nice touch with a piece of apricot cake. Worth...More

We made the mistake of going here for lunch to celebrate our anniversary & actually walked out without eating! The service was so slow it was non-existent...don't bother eating here. Take a photo of the inside & eat where waiters actually care about their customers....More

Me and my seven friends had a great time! The food was exactly what we were looking for, good rustic german-style food. And the service and atmosphere was great as well, neither of us had anything to complaint about. The price-level was reasonable.More

This restaurant needs booking advance but it is absolutely worth of it. Short list guarantees quality in this restaurant. Lots of local customers and very polite service. Food was excellent and tasty. Two course with drinks about 30 euros per person. Short walk from Alexanderplatz.More

Sat outside with a group of 5 in a simple garden patio (nothing fancy here, inside or out). They have some marvelous decorations near the bar (cool old beer mugs dating hundred of years back). We had the egg appetizer (tasty, unusual, I am told...More

Service was very slow and it really wasn't that busy. Food was OK, nothing special and certainly not worth the prices charged. We left feeling underwhelmed.

Don't get me wrong, this place has bags of charm, character and the setting is delightful. I travelled a great distance to try the legendary pork knuckle at this place. When it arrived I was immediately put off by the plate of food. Large amounts...More

Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights
like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum
Island. The central location makes this one of the
city's most expensive places to live. It is here the
oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence
of some significant transformations, as well. The
gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets
between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given

Description
Napoleon is believed to have once dined at this restaurant, which opened in 1621. In 1621, a retired knight’s servant of the elector of that time opened a little distillery, and by this he laid the foundations for “Letzte Instanz”. Thanks to the “Graues Kloster” (Grey Monastery), in Waisenstraße, belonging to Nikolaikirche, the distillery was getting more and more popular even beyond the borderlines of the city. The monastery, working place of doctors, alchemists, and astrologists, and which also had a printing work and a foundry of letters, enhanced the popularity of Waisenstraße and attracted a large number of guests coming to our restaurant.
