Great meal out. Waiter spoke great English and was excellent. Food super nice with good choice - both of us went for the schnitzel, very tasty. Very enjoyable evening and went to a drink in a cool quirky bar just next door (down the 2nd...alley on the left after leaving the restaurant - past the ‘Cinema’ bar).More

Located in the eponymous tile-embellished shopping center, this café quickly became my go-to spot for classic German food. Despite the generous size of the dining room, the ambience was cozy and unpretentious. Photos of the Hackescher Höf before and after World War II (when it...somehow managed to escape bombing) decorated the walls, which were covered in a muted yellowish wallpaper that went well with the dark wood wainscoting. The lunch specials were reasonably priced. one companion ordered the Königsberger Klopse, two baseball-sized meatballs in a tasty white sauce with potatoes. I had the linguine with seafood – perfectly al dente pasta with mussel, shrimp and even a tiny octopus, all cooked just right. Our other friend ordered off the regular menu and received enough wiener schnitzel that my husband and I were able to make dinner from the leftovers. The bread and butter were divine. Dessert featured fresh berries with a scoop of basil ice cream, which tasted much better than it sounded.More

- We we’re seated at a table that was not set - Table was wobbly - Short wine poor in both glasses - at least 1/8” below the 3 dots marked on glass.. - When bread was brought to the table, olive oil was not...offered even though there was a little dish for it - had to ask. - Lobster bisque was watery. - Requested a couple of anchovies with Caesar salad, but didn’t get them. - Caesar dressing was also watery. - Waiter did not return to table to see if everything was ok; had to flag him down to ask again for anchovies. - Entrecôte steak dinner was cooked to order (medium) and veges were ok; no steak sauce available. Should probably have rated this experience even lower than 3.More

Nicer dine in restaurant featuring German dishes, while still having chicken Caesar salad for the kids. Service was excellent, our waiters wine pairing suggestions were excellent. Really enjoyed our Wiener schnitzel and fried chicken dishes. We didn’t even have to try to flag down the waiter...for the check, first time ever on our German trip.More

It comprises a large dining room with deco inspired fixtures. The food is standard German/European bistro style food. I had a carpaccio starter that was delicious. This was followed by a sizeable viener schnitzel which was perfect. Our waiter was very personable and it was...good to chat briefly. Good food and excellent service in nice surroundings - perfect for a cold winter evening.More

We sought this restaurant out for breakfast as we had visited several years before. We were 7 in number and all ordered coffee / s Teas and breakfasts. Waitress pleasant to begin with then looked grumpy. Waiter came to our table and asked if we...were English & then curtly asked us to remove small bottled drinks we had on the table ( only 3 ) but weren’t drinking from. Just wanted to keep them off the floor. Needless and petty .Up to that point we had enjoyed our visit , even helping other guests move chairs / locate coat racks etc. At that point we had spent €160, 00 euro and would have spent more & left a good tip like before We won’t be going back anytime soon!More

We visited this restaurant while on a walking tour, without booking and they had no problem catering for a large group of 12 people. Interesting menu in a special building and a lively atmosphere. Good food and friendly service.

Lovely food and atmosphere! We were two families and the choice for the teenagers wasn’t great but they had a gorgeous carbonara (but was €19 per head!) Schnitzel was amazing and the vegetarian sweet potato dish was to die for. Apple strudel and pumpkin cake...for pudding was excellent. Beers were good. Wine was pricey. Lovely but pretty pricey for a family.More

We really enjoyed our food. We took the three course menu which was great value for money. Excellent wines. Staff was friendly but could have picked up the pace near the end.

Found this restaurant on Quandoo and managed to get a late booking on a Saturday night. The reviews got 6/6 and as always, one is skeptical but it did not disappoint. I tend to take an optimistic view by rating a restaurant at 10 and...then taking off points as things disappoint but honestly I couldn't find any faults. The food was amazing. I had the watercress soup followed by pigeon three ways. The starter was really really tasty but the main was something special. Fabulous cheeses to finish and a superb and reasonably price Reisling. My fellow diners were also pleased with their food but I think mine was the best choice. The staff were lovely, in particular our waitress. My only criticism was that the staff, and also the manager were not completely clued up on the drinks or food. It was like they hadn't grasped the talent that was in their kitchen. Don't get me wrong, they were all very pleasant and professional but their service style didn't match the quality of the food. I would highly recommend or go back in a heartbeat. The prices were very reasonable for the quality. A great find!More

We had a reservation at Hackescher Hof. In the beginning everything seems pretty wel, but we were assigned an unset table, while other tables were still passible (without reservation cafés). They didn’t bother to set the table neatly. Besides, we were nearly invisible for the...waitress. Our diner takes almost 2 hours and they asked only one time for our drinks. The food was fine.More

I had chosen this restaurant based on good reviews but was disappointed with the reality. Prices are more expensive than average (which I knew in advance) but were not matched by the food. My schnitzel was OK but not a patch on the ones I...had in Vienna a few years ago. My wife had salmon which was acceptable but nothing special. Service was a little slow initially (it was a long time before they even took drinks orders) but was acceptable after that.More
