Hello Duncan, we already had a conversation on instagram!? Both there and at the door, we politely explained to you why we didn't let you in that day. In response, we were only insulted by you. Is this the behavior of a doctor? Respect and...More
Me and my wife were in Hamburg for the first time, and had made our way up to St Pauli, and walking our way back into the city from there. We decided once we got back to the river to go and get a beer...somewhere, and one place I had heard good things about was StrandPauli. Effectively a large hipster hangout area, which we loved as soon as we were through the main entrance. Tropical outdoor surf vibes meets dive bar! Ordered a couple of beers and just sat back to watch the world go by. For lunch time on a Sunday it was much busier than I expected. If back in Hamburg again will be sure to come here again.More
Yes, Hamburg, 60 kilometers from the North Sea, has beach clubs, this is one of them (at least two others, some not even on the water). While it is located in St. Pauli, the site of the famous Reeperbahn and probably the largest red light...district in Europe, it is down below the bar action along the Elbe River streets and walkways, centrally located and within an easy walk to many other tourist attractions. We got in with a PDF file of the US CDC vaccination card, so you need that, or a negative test and you also have to fill out a locate form. But that is required almost every other place you visit, especially indoor areas. This has both, with real beach chairs, real sand and incredible views of the harbor and all the boat traffic going up and down the river. Did not try the food, but drinks were expertly mixed. There is a self service and full service area, you can also smoke, if you are into that. Hamburg is a harbor town, so I cannot think of a better place to have a drink, chill out, and see the boats and trading going on that make this a very rich city, financially and culturally. Like every outdoor activity in Hamburg, do this on a day that has a low chance of rain. And you are directly on the river, so dress accordingly - even in August, you can have temps drop to 60 by 6pm, with the sun setting around 10pm.More
A Hamburg classic: beach, right on the Elbe shores.... the chilled atmosphere doesn’t get any better than this with lot’s of little places to sit alone or with family or friends. Drink and food selection is quite good. We were in the self-serving area so...no service to be mentioned. We hand GTs, beer, one of the bowl and the special fries - really addicting food that - combined with the warmth and the sun made for a perfect Hamburg afternoon.More
It's a lovely place with all nice seats at the Harbour of Hamburg. You have to get your own stuff and have to wait a while but it's worth the trouble since the relaxing is perfect.
Staff are lovely, menu is decent with a killer mayonnaise. The staff are so nice and helpful. Speak English too which was super helpful. But loads of wasps hovering around so don't be too surprised by how many. Nothing the bar can do to stop...them so just ve prepared for a few buzzing visits from them while you're sitting and enjoying your drinks and food.More
2nd time there. But i must say this time i was dissapointed about the food/menu. The pizza is dry and boring. But the place is brilliant in the summer for drinks
Amazing location with fantastic music and vibes Great burgers and salads Open until late Kids and party friendly :-)
We visited on a beautifully sunny day so it was inevitably very busy. We had to move from our seats for a private party but found other seats easily enough although not so comfortable! Felt like being at a beach bar - loved the sand...and overlooking the water! Food was very tasty - I had the chilli cheese burger. Despite how busy the place was, food didn't take too long. Cocktails were very well made too. We weren't allowed to take our water bottles inside, which is a bit of a strange rule. It has to be left by the entrance or emptied. On a hot day, this wasn't great but that'd be our only issue.More
Been there with a group of friends for an afternoon to hang out. After leaving the premises to get a crepe for my 6 year old daughter around the corner the bouncer decided that we couldn’t enter again. My wife and friends were still inside....Some staff tried to help to get us inside again but the bouncer refused. Eventually the ground decided to leave and left behind a few half finished bottles of wine. Poor experience. The bill was pretty high so we’ll definitely spend our money elsewhere next time.More
Enjoyed our afternoon with friends there massively, good service and great location however the security guards ruined the entire experience - unprofessional, unfriendly and not able to handle things in a sensible manner. Sorry but this is not what I expected.
What can I say, life is not boring in Strand Pauli, it’s just not your usual tourist trap restaurant. We’re mixed group of friends who were chilling inside. We ate and drank heftily. Food as you can guess relies a lot on you being mesmerized...by the harbor while consuming it. Anyhow one of our friends child wanted to go outside and buy snack with her dad. Little did we know it ended up on them being kept outside because it’s “almost closing time”. They kept the poor 6 year old standing by the gate with her mother still inside. We talked to the house staff which then proceed to bring the pair of them in. Happy ending? Not in Strand Pauli! The guy came back in to personally drag the dad and daughter back out because its the “door staff Jurisdiction to decide who goes in and who stays out”. Uuuu you’re thinking: midlife crisis much? It was a weird telenovela episode where they’re not allowed in to unite as a family for 2 minutes to PAY then leave. When the mother protested, they mocked her for not speaking german (!) before pulling off best service remark of the year “if you don’t like us just don’t come back”. I’m sure, gullible tourists are lining up in your mercy to get inside and be ripped off. Sigh Ok Kings of Strand Pauli gate, I guess you win. Here, have your only accomplishment in life back.More
We went there with about 20 people. For lunch, and drinks with mentionable spending. A mix of german and asian guests. One of our friends went outside the door (5 meters) to buy ice-cream with his daughter and the bouncer would not let him in...anymore. When his wife tried to find her family the bouncer would tell her to better speak german and never come back if she does not like the place. Horrible experience!More
Cool mood, sand, relaxed people, view at the harbor, excellent chill music. Tips: get sun chairs and if lucky a sun shade, sun glasses, sun cream ... of course if its sunny, very rare in Hamburg. Quite challenging to get drinks, stayed 20 min in...a queue, if you stay inside there is table service. Probably you will wait the same :) Didn’t try the food, came only to relax here. If you look in the corner you will see me writing this review :) Enjoy !More
We were pleasantly surprised by this bubbling area at the harbor. Service is not very good however the drinks and ambience were great.
