I went there as part of a big group, which meant somebody did a reservation and we had 2 tables for us at the back of the restaurant. The ambient is pretty cool, it does feel like an old cellar. Service was good, of course becoming harder to get a new beer after the restaurant got fuller as the night went on. Instead of the menu, we thought it would be easier for everyone to get their own food at the buffet. They have several pork cuts, sausages, potatoes cooked in different styles, kale and lettuce salad. If you're vegetarian or vegan, the choice is restricted. My only complain is that they do not take cards at the buffet, which is curious, cause you CAN pay with card for everything else in the restaurant. Overall, beer and food are tasty and bring cash. Prices are average of this kind of restaurant (beer ~ 4€ + food ~ 15€).

"Bier-keller" with great atmosphere

This is a very nice brewery, situated in a "basement" with beautiful brick walls and excellent atmosphere. When you make reservations, please let them know that you wish to sit inside the restaurant, and not at the tables in the entrance. Unfortunately we were placed at a small table, but upon request moved to a larger table, still in the entrance though. It was okay, but in order to experience the "correct" ambiance, you have to have a table inside the restaurant. We had the popular Haxe, and it was excellent! The beer is really outstanding, and after a couple of beers and Korn (German Schnaps) we forgot about the seating in the entrance :) Really a hidden gem!

Great restaurant, though could be difficult to see where you go in from the door. Its got really great character and was conveniently 100m from our hotel (Premier Inn). The food choice was traditional German, exactly what we wanted and you could either choose from the buffet where you were served from displayed meats and vegetable options or from a set menu selection. The beer was great and the ambience was fantastic, dimly lit with candles but kind of magical. The service was excellent and catered for English, though predominantly a german restuarant. From couples to large groups they catered for all in a traditional setting. Would go again!!

We were in Hamburg for four days of walking, sightseeing, eating and drinking and we came here every day. After we finished walking at about 2pm, we called in for a couple of pints before our siesta back at the hotel. These drinks were all draught beers, Pils, Weiss and Schwarz, all brilliant and well served by friendly and very professional staff. The venue is awesome. Take no notice of the criticism of smokers, it’s a non-smoking venue.

Wanted to eat and drink something in this tent today, December 14. Have indicated that my wife cannot and should not sit on a bar stool due to a major operation. There were many seats (chair) available, but the staff only provided a bar stool. Staff made it clear that this was not possible. They didn't listen to this and we were sent away. Not recommended and certainly not Groningen hospitality.

Very rustic atmosphere in the brewery cellar, the beers are all delicious. The staff is really borderline but nice. The burger tasted really good, even with its own bun. The patty was more of a meatball, but super tasty.
