Having wondered around Wittenberg for a couple of hours, this coffee shop was a good place to rest and enjoy local cakes and a hot drink. There is a good choice of simple meals on the menu, from cakes and snacks to light meals.

Tante Emma's is located in between the Rathaus and Stadtkirche. The staff speaks very little English, but they have an English menu, and they're very friendly. I ate here twice for lunch on a recent trip to Wittenberg. (The pea soup is delicious!) The place feels very cozy, and many tables have views of either the Stadtkirche or Rathaus.

On a cool rainy day this was such a cozy place with plenty of local families having a good home style meal. The place is a little crowded. We had slow but wonderful service.

We were on a walking tour of Wittenberg, and decided to eat here. We are Americans who speak very little German and the wait staff did not speak much English, but we worked it out and had a nice lunch. We think we were the only foreigners, as everyone else spoke German. Several families with children, college age young people... More

I was in town site seeing and dropped in here for a quick coffee and snack. Both were amazingly dellicious. The staff were courteous and friendly and it was a most enjoyable snack. The location (on a square surrounded by old architecture) was perfect. I can't speak for the full menu, but it is as good as the pastry, then... More

Like a lot of American protestants, we thought it would be a highlight to stop in Wittenberg, place of Martin Luther fame, for church on Sunday. The service was not very inspiring, but lunch at Tante Emma's was a fun experience. Tante Emma's is like visiting your old aunt. The decor looks like it has been acquired at estate sales... More

Walked in with family of four, intending to have food and drinks. Place was busy but not packed. After 5 minutes of being ignored while trying to speak with an employee, we were finally told in rude words that we should leave as it should be obvious that there is no space available. We did leave.

The restaurant is about the next from Church of Wittenberg's main entrance. Nice decoration, kind and attentive service. And the food was a surprise - nice German food done in a simple way, as it should, from good raw materials. If I were living in this city, this would be my living room....
